NYX Faux Blacks Eyeliner Oxblood Review

Greetings everyone,

As already mentioned, I have three shades from the NYX Faux Blacks Eyeliner range. I have already reviewed Burnt Sienna and this review is all about the shade Oxblood. These are inner eyeliners, i.e. eyeliners meant only for the waterline. I personally like to use NYX Faux Blacks Eyeliners over the lashline more. Let’s get into the details to know more.

My Experience with NYX Faux Blacks Eyeliner Oxblood:

Packaging:
NYX Faux Blacks Eyeliner Oxblood comes in a regular sleek and sharpenable pencil form. The pencil is black coloured with details written in white and has a colour-coded end. The colour-coded end helps in picking up the desired shade without going thoroughly in the stash. The pencil itself bears all important information regarding the product.

NYX Faux Blacks Eyeliner Oxblood Packaging

It has no outer cardboard packaging but comes sealed with cellophane to prevent tampering. This is a sharpenable pencil but no sharpener has been provided with it. Overall, the packaging is easy to work with and travel-friendly too.

Shade:
The shade Oxblood is defined as “dark red”. I would say it is more like a rusty toned red. The shade is neither too bright nor too dark. It is subtle and looks beautiful. This kind of shade is very hard to find in the drugstore brands. And, I find myself reaching out for this shade the most.

NYX Faux Blacks Eyeliner Oxblood Cap

This shade does not scream black tones albeit every shade from the Faux Blacks range is nearly black – just like every shade of Faux Whites Eye Brightener range is nearly white. Apart from Oxblood, there are 7 other shades: Burnt Sienna (deep burgundy), Onyx (deep teal), Midnight (navy blue), Black Olive (deep olive), Obsidian (deep indigo), Blackberry (deep amethyst), and Black Hole (deep purple).

NYX Faux Blacks Eyeliner Oxblood Tip

Pigmentation:
The pigment of Oxblood is very rich with a good color payoff. It provides almost opaque finish in a single swipe or stroke. In a couple of swipes, it provides full pigmentation. The pigment can be intensified as it is easily buildable. You can get more and more deep and rich shade with more clean and neat strokes.

Texture:
This eyeliner is very creamy and glides effortlessly. I don’t have to drag for making a stroke. This eyeliner is creamy yet it sets to a pure matte finish. It takes a few seconds to dry and settle down, which gives me the time to smudge it if I want. Like Burnt Sienna, this shade also crumbles while smudging; crumbling is minimal to zero, though. But as soon as it dries off, there is no crumbling unless I rub it hard.

NYX Faux Blacks Eyeliner Oxblood Color Coded End

Not to mention, it does not budge at all. I love using Maybelline Gel Eyeliners but they make my eyes watery if applied too close to the waterline, plus they get easily smudged on my lash line. However, the formula of these eyeliners by NYX does not make the eye watery and that’s why I love these so much. I can use these eyeliners on the waterline as well as on the lashline.

Staying Power:
Once it’s set, it is water-resistant and smudge-proof. It stays intact all day long without making eyes uncomfortable or watery. If I rub my eyes harder then it may come off a little bit, but does not look smudged or patchy at all. As a product for the water line, it is an awesome eyeliner that does not come off on its own easily. It does not irritate the eyes either.

NYX Faux Blacks Eyeliner Oxblood Swatch

As the lash line product or regular eyeliner also it works amazing. Unlike Burnt Sienna, Oxblood does not look streaky at all, no matter how many strokes I use. It can easily be removed with a waterproof makeup remover at the end of the day. I use Garnier Micellar Oil-Infused Cleansing Water and a couple of swipes are enough. It does not stain the eye area with this remover.
