Today I’m going to be reviewing a shade from the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream range. This range offers some of the best liquid lipsticks. The liquid lipsticks or lip creams in this range are of great quality and easy on the pocket, too. So, let’s get started with the review now.

My Experience with NYX Rome Soft Matte Lip Cream:

I absolutely love this entire range. The product is affordable, offers great quality and there’s a wide range of shades available; a lot of which suit Indian skin tones well. The range even has some great dupes for MAC lipsticks. Today, I will be reviewing the shade Rome (SMLC32). This is a soft matte lip cream, which means it doesn’t dry down to a completely matte finish.

I love this formula as the colour looks natural and not caked up on the lips. I have had some bad experiences with liquid lipsticks looking extremely cakey on my lips, so this was a refreshing change. There’s 6ml of product in one tube. The shade Rome is a deep pinky brown with a hint of mauve tones. My skin is medium tan (NC42) and Rome looks like a shade deeper than my MLBB colour.

In pictures, the colour looks on the lighter side but in real life it’s a shade darker. The hand swatch looks brown but it shows up more pink on the lips. It comes in a simple tube that isn’t larger than the size of your palm. The bottom part of the tube is the same shade as the lipstick colour; however, this is not a completely accurate representation of the shade.

The top part that twists up to reveal the applicator is matte black. It is the perfect muted colour for girls who are just starting out with makeup or women who want something subtle for office or work. I think this would be a very good MLBB shade for darker skin tones. The product is very creamy but it doesn’t feel heavy on the lips at all.

It covers all my pigmentation as the colour is very opaque. It gives an even finish in one swipe and the doe foot applicator makes it really easy to apply in the inner corners of the lips. I haven’t used a lipliner with this because it usually doesn’t require one. Since it is a soft matte cream its staying power is not that great. After a meal, it does require touch ups.

It stays on my lips for around 5 hours without any meals. But, let’s face it – how can anyone not eat for 5 hours! With light meals, it lasts around 3-4 hours. It does leave a faint light pink stain after 6 hours or so if you have touched up in those 6 hours. But I was surprised that this product did not dry my lips at all. If you don’t exfoliate your lips the lipstick may feather but it won’t settle into the fine lines.

I love this product a lot and this is my second tube. The staying power is low but other than that the product is still worth the buy.
