After seeing many of my cousins and my own SIL getting hitched, I felt like an expert on dressing and seeing what clothes to wear. I am not going to focus on the main events, I am going to focus on the outfits you may need for the events in-between. This is a guide to get these types of outfits ready, just in case!
Yes, of course you’re going to have a party to celebrate! It could be a party with your close friends or maybe a blown out bash with everyone you know. Remember that this is your occasion to shine. Of course, you will do so at your wedding, but this is the unofficial version, where you can still let your hair down.
Opt for something soft and romantic, or something dramatic, whichever suits your style the best. Look for details such as straps or cut outs. You definitely don’t want go with simple black dresses. Accessorize and stand out, it’s your day to shine!
This is an event with your BFFs and obviously, will take place during the day. Pastels would be a great pick for this one and I am a personal fan of shift dresses and flowy skirts. They are both good picks to move around and socialize. You don’t want to wear something tight and uncomfortable when you know you’re going to be moving around a lot.
Bring out your most ridiculous and most fun party dress! You can go bare skin, but make sure to keep it classy and fabulous. A mini dress to flaunt your legs and a pair of killer heels with just your best girlies would be perfect.
Marriage Certificate Signing
Yes, this is going to be a boring outing! But, it is still a memorable and meaningful event and you want to be and look your best self. Go for something feminine and radiant; pair it with flats.
The welcoming of all your guests is also a very important event. A lot of people will be seeing you after a long time. Go for an outfit that you are confident in. I would pick a nice bright kurti in a flattering cut. Kurtis not only look flattering but also are super comfortable, so you’ll be able to enjoy everything too.
For occasions in between the wedding, pick bright saris or anarkalis that look festive. Leave out the lehngas for the big events and go for comfortable dresses and accessorize them heavily. You are still the bride. 🙂
Post Wedding Brunch
Phew! Now that the entire craziness is behind you, this is a small get together with your loved ones. Opt for a stylish, but casual outfit. If you’re sick of Indian outfits, I really suggest jumpsuits for such occasions. But, you can wear something ethnic but light too if your new family prefers that!
Hope this helped you get an idea of what you need. Of course, dressing is a personal choice and you may want to experiment as per your preferences. Do share your views on the post below. 🙂
