So, I have already reviewed Revlon’s Matte Lip Balm in the shade “Audacious,” and in this post, I am reviewing the shade “Mischievous.” I would have reviewed them together, but I hate clicking so many pictures at once! 😛 Anyhow! I got both of these together, and after trying it out for a few times, I have finally decided how I feel about it.
Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm offers velvety color with balm-like moisture. Infused with a Triple Butter Complex of Shea, Mango and Coconut Butter. This retractable chubby crayon requires no sharpener.
$8.99 for 2.7 gm of the product.
Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Octyldodecanol, Cera Alba ((Beeswax) Cire d abeille), BHT, Benzoic Acid. May Contain: Mica, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, 77492, 77499), Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140), Red 6 Lake (CI 15850), Red 7 Lake (CI 15850:1), Blue 1 Lake (CI 42090), Yellow 6 Lake (CI 15985), Red 33 Lake (CI 17200), Red 28 Lake (CI 45410).
How To Use:
Step 1: Apply ColorBurst Matte Balm evenly to clean, bare lips. Build color and coverage as desired.
Step 2: Reapply as desired for moisturizing shine throughout the day.
Again, this looks similar to the Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains, but matte. I love all things matte, and so I love the packaging for this! And of course I love the retractable packaging as well.
My Take on Revlon Colorburst Matte Lip Balm in Mischievous:
So, this color is a light shade, and when I first swatched it on my wrist, it looked like a pale-people shade, and I thought this would completely wash me out, and it did! This shade is not for my bad face days – when my face is looking dull and tired, as I was after travelling. But then I tried it again with a fresher face, and it looked like a nice soft orangey peach on me and I was really happy because I certainly don’t have a shade like that already!
The texture is just as smooth as Audacious, and it goes on matte. It is very weightless, as if you are not wearing a lipstick. It is hydrating but not like lip balms – it feels nice on the lips, that’s it. This is not a substitute for a balm. It also smells nice and minty – I hate lip products which smell bad!
Coming to the pigmentation, it is not as pigmented as Audacious – I needed 3-4 swipes to coat my lips. Also, it applies somewhat patchy, I don’t know why. It certainly looks better when applied on top of lip balm, otherwise accentuates fine lines.
The staying power is slightly lesser because of the color I think, it starts to fade within 3 hours and transfers, but then, which lipstick doesn’t?
Overall, I think you should be careful while buying this one, because it is a bit difficult to pull it off, and not very brightening in itself, but it’s a very unique color, and I love Revlon for their shade selection with this range!
Pros of Revlon Colorburst Matte Lip Balm in Mischievous:
- Unique orange peach color in a matte finish.
- Texture is very smooth.
- Smells nice and minty.
- Staying power is good.
- Packaging is attractive.
Cons of Revlon Colorburst Matte Lip Balm in Mischievous:
- Shade is a little difficult to pull off for all skin tones.
- Pigmentation is average.
- Gets a little streaky/patchy when applied without lip balm.
- Accentuates fine lines.
I really love this range and like the shade selection very much. I will probably buy Sultry as it looks really gorgeous!
