The packaging is pretty and sleek. The lipstick comes with color coded bodies corresponding to the lipstick color, with again an additional layer of plastic. The bullet is housed in a black case with a clear plastic cap. The cap is tight and shuts close with a click sound, which ensures that it won’t come off. And initially when you twist the bullet higher the case makes a click sound. The bullet feels quite bulky, but is very convenient to carry in your purse. Overall, the packaging is sturdy and attractive.
My Take on Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede Lipstick Couture:
Shade: The shade Couture is a nice cool toned deep raspberry pink shade, with loads of tiny light emitting fuchsia pink shimmers in it. The shade leans a little towards red rather than pink. I mean to say it doesn’t appear too pink on lips and hence is an apt shade for wide range of skin tones. The shade can be worn every day and especially it’s perfect to wear at a night out.
Texture, Finish and Pigmentation: Initially when you apply the color either to swatch it on hands or lips the lipstick will just appear like a lip tint, which gives very dull layer of color. And it feels a bit sticky in the process settling down. This particular shade took 15 minutes to settle down on lips for a non transferable and touch proof matte lipstick. The lipstick is super smooth and glides like dream on lips, no tugging at all. As the lipstick is matte and sets down on lips, it accentuates dry, chapped lips easily. So, even if it’s spring now and if you have dry lips never skip exfoliating of lips before applying this very lip color. As you do not want to make your lips look horribly drier with this pretty lip color on 🙂 .
The lipstick felt quite hydrating on my normal lips; and wasn’t like that it strips the complete moisture from your lips. But dry lips will definitely need some extra hydration to feel comfortable wearing this lip color. The lip color doesn’t feels heavy or cakey upon layering. The lipstick lives to its claims of being a suede lipstick. And it really gives nice suede, velvety finish on lips, which doesn’t appears too matte or glossy.
The shade is very decently pigmented comparing to the light ones, and if you have non pigmented lips, like me, you’re done with 1 swipe. But, swiping the color once will only give coverage but not that thickness or opacity. So, you’ll have the urge to swipe it once more. And then the required opacity is attained. And if you have pigmented lipsvmaximum of two swipes is only needed; don’t worry about the lipstick turning patchy.
Staying Power: Though the lipstick range is long wearing, but it’s for the first time I faced problem with this. And what is that? Earlier I had used two shades ‘Socialite’ and ‘Womeswear’ from this range. I was super satisfied with the shade Aocialite and partially satisfied with shade Womeswear, as it used to turn patchy after few hours. But, this particular shade no doubt is so wonderful and pigmented. And even after drying and setting down, it turns patchy whenever I rub my lips against each other. It’s not that it turns gloppy or thick upon layering.
It can also fade with foods like pizza or anything heavy. But, it won’t transfer to cups, so you can drink anything. Though be careful while rubbing your lips or taking a big bite from something, as it can turn flaky from the inner parts of the lips. Without eating this lipstick can give you a wearing time for 7- 8 hours, without the need of touch-ups, but what will do with the rubbing of our lips. 🙂
Pros of Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede Lipstick Couture:
- Beautiful deep raspberry color, will suit variety of skin tones.
- Texture is very soft and smooth. Glides easily on lips.
- Formula of the lipstick is transfer proof and long wearing.
- Finish is nice suede matte.
- Won’t turn patchy upon layering.
- Decently pigmented.
- No sort of irritating smell.
- Easily available.
- Packaging looks pretty and sturdy.
Cons of Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede Lipstick Couture:
- Need exfoliation of lips, pre applying this lips color.
- Dry lips will surely need extra hydration post applying it. As the long wearing matte formula can suck moisture form lips.
- Turns flaky and patchy with just little friction of lips.
- This particular shade took 15 minutes time to settle down completely, which is quite long.
Would I recommend Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede Lipstick Couture?
Ask me personally and I would say ‘no’ for this time. But, if you liked the shade very much in the swatches, and won’t have any issues with the lipstick turning patchy with friction of lips then you can surely go for it.
Last Word: The formula of the lipstick can be little drying for dry lip beauties. But, we cannot expect that super moisturizing effect form such a long wearing matte formulated product. The company claims it to be super hydrating, but as it keep settling down to matte finish; dry lips may start feeling a bit drier. Otherwise the lipstick won’t transfer to anything that my lips touch.

I dislike the look of this range after few hours 🙁
Sadly a miss, it would so annoy me 🙁
I have dry lips, so a no-no for me. 🙁
Lovely shade and lip swatches, Supriya 🙂 Will skip this, though. I have dry lips. Thanks for the review 🙂
I have the same shade, i am not a fan of the texture, but the weartime makes me reach to this lipstick all the time. Your lip swatches are lovely!
