Hi guys!
I have always been curious about the Lacquer Balm Revlon has but other ranges were way more interesting than this (matte, balm stain etc) so I decided to pick up a red from this range and give it a go. This has been around for a long time, so let’s see how this shade performs.
Product Description:
Shine like never before with brilliant color infused with a Triple Butter Complex. Available In 10 craveable, collectible lacquer shades.
• High shine + balm-like moisture.
• Infused with a Triple Butter Complex of Shea, mango, and coconut butter.
• Retractable chubby crayon, no sharpener required.
My Experience with Revlon Provocateur Colorburst Lacquer Balm:
Packaging:
The product comes in a chubby crayon form with a retractable stick inside. There are 10 shades available in the range in total, but here in Tokyo, the range now has just about 4-5 shades.
Shade:
The shade Provocateur is a blue-based red. It is beautiful and a classic pin-up red. It would suit light to deep skin tones. So anyone can pull it off.
Consistency:
The consistency is slightly balmy, so it reminds me of the balm stain a bit. It has that same balmy scent and feels as the balm stain range as well. It glides on the lips beautifully, very low maintenance. It feels like a lip balm on the lips, not a lipstick because even the lightest of lipsticks tend to remind us that we’re wearing something but this one does not do that at all.
It does bleed a little bit but it is not obvious when worn on its own. I do recommend a lip liner underneath to prevent this from happening. It is also very very moisturising, so if your lips are chapped this will help give them good amount of moisture. It feels very cooling on the lips and does leave a pink stain behind. I am not sure if this staining property is with the lighter shades, but this one does. It also has a nice sheen so you can use it to top off other reds too (exactly as the name says – a lip lacquer).
Pigmentation:
The pigmentation is wonderful on this one, so much better than the balm stain range. It has a one-swipe pigmentation. I need just about 2 swipes to get full opacity.
Staying Power:
Because it is a very balmy, pigmented shade, it will require touch-ups; more so if you don’t use a stain/lip liner with it. If you eat or drink, the colour will wear off from the centre of your lips, so you do have to check in and touch up regularly (because it is a red).
How I use it:
I use 1 of 3 products in conjunction with this product; either the Revlon balm stain in Romantic, the Wet N Wild lip liner in Berry Red or Rimmel Apocalips Big Bang. I like to use it alone too but I feel using it with another product helps with its longetivity and reduce bleeding.
Pros of Revlon Provocateur Colorburst Lacquer Balm:
• Beautiful shade – will suit a huge variety of skin tones.
• Has a beautiful glossy effect.
• Feels very lightweight on the lips.
• Very good pigmentation.
• Travel friendly packaging.
• Leaves behind a slight stain.
• Feels cooling on the lips.
Cons of Revlon Provocateur Colorburst Lacquer Balm:
• Not great staying power.
• Tends to bleed a little bit – I recommend a lip liner.
IMBB Rating: 4.75/5

These are great as tinted balms, for casual looks but their staying power disappoint me big time. Other than this, I have not faced any issues with them. The shades of this one is quite lovely – subtle and flattering.
Yeah you’re right Shikha! No wonder matte liquid lips are a craze right now.
love it Ramya, worn it beautifully!
Thanks Neha 🙂
I like this shade a lot.. it has a pretty cool color tone. When it comes to pigmentation, I can use it like a tinted lip balm, like Shikha suggested..
Yeah it is great for that. You can pair it with a lip stain as well 🙂
