Scandal Cosmetics Crystal Soul Blusher Review

Hi there guys!
I bought a bunch of stuff from a Korean store I found in Tokyo. This was such a standout product for me since the second I swatched it. Scandal is a Korean cosmetic brand and I understand that this is the first review of any of the Scandal product. When you google it, usually the TV show Scandal shows up (my favourite TV show)! Although the main website has a total of 5 shades available, the counter had 2 more shades, champagne and a pinky one. Read further to find out more about it!

Product Description:
Vivid colours that work in harmony like the colour spectrum. This marbling blusher gives the skin a soft yet lively finish. Fine powder made in high heat oven the livens the shimmer, giving a translucent finish with lasting colour that stays on the skin without over powdering.

My Experience with Scandal Cosmetics Crystal Soul Blusher:

Packaging: The packaging is very beautiful but slightly on the bulky side. The top of the product has a chandelier imprint with the words Scandal written on it. When you open it up, there is a round mirror with the baked, swirled product inside. There is a separate compartment for holding a brush, which applies the product wonderfully. There is 8g of product in the pan, which is a decent amount of product, especially since this is not something I am going to get through with quickly. I also travelled with this to India and the product did not get damaged in any way.

Shade: The shade of this one is a light peachy bronze. I know it says blush in its title, but it is a gorgeous highlighter for tan to dark skin tones. The shade I picked up is called 05 natural shine brown and has brown and white swirls. It looks stunning in the pan. This shade can be used as blush topper for light to medium skin tones; it is too light to act as a stand-alone blush.

Consistency: The consistency of this is definitely a lot more powdery than I expected. But then again I have heard baked products tend to be that way (this is my first experience with a baked product). There is no creaminess to it at all. It has the same consistency as Mary Lou Manizer which is also a pressed powder and is powdery.

Blendability: Even though it is powdery, it does blend very well on the skin and gives a bronzy JLo glow to the cheeks. It has very minute sparkles that actually show through whereas in the Mary Lou Manizer, the sparkle is so finely milled that you can’t see the tiny sparkles; it just looks like sheen. When used as an eyeshadow, I can see it has a very low colour payoff and does not show up at all.

Pigmentation: As I said before, compared to theBalm’s Mary Lou Manizer, it is averagely pigmented. This is probably the one aspect in which it is superior to theBalm highlighter. You can layer and build it up if you want a very intense highlight (I find 2 layers give an intense highlight). You can also use it wet to get one swipe pigmentation, but I haven’t tried it this way. Middle-of-the-road colour payoff is a huge advantage for a person like me who just wants a subtle highlight for everyday. You can really control the amount of glow that you want and I love that.

Lasting Power: I usually set my makeup with a setting spray, but this seems to last just about 3 or 4 hours when I don’t wear a setting spray. If you are a person who keeps touching your face, this will come right off on your fingers. So I am definitely not impressed with the staying power. Keep in mind I have normal skin on my cheeks; it might perform differently on people with oily skin. I would say it has a below-average to average staying power.

Brush: I love the brush that comes along with this, because I don’t own a fan brush. The brush is perfectly thin enough to lay down the highlighter on my cheekbones and down the nose. It does not seem to shed and fits so snugly in the container.

Final Thoughts: I really do like this product and will continue to get usage out of it as long as I have it. But after that, I do not intend to repurchase.

Pros of Scandal Cosmetics Crystal Soul Blusher:

• Beautiful as a highlighter on tan to dark skin.
• Can be used as blush topper on light to medium skin tones.
• Looks amazing in the pan – wonderful swirled pattern.
• Low colour payoff – amount of highlight can be controlled very well.
• Sturdy and elegant packaging.
• Packaging has mirror and brush – very travel friendly.

Cons of Scandal Cosmetics Crystal Soul Blusher:

• A little on the powdery side.
• Expensive.
• Sparkle not as finely milled as theBalm’s one.
• Does not last long on the cheeks.

Would I Recommend Scandal Cosmetics Crystal Soul Blusher?
I think this is a dupe for the Mac MSF but it doesn’t come close to it in quality. If you are looking for a highlighter, better to skip this one because of the bad staying power.

  1. I am not sure how this shade would look on me, but I really like its brush. In fact its a complete package with mirror also. Like it. 🙂
