St. Ives Apricot Cleanser Foaming Face Wash
By Padmashree
Hello everyone!
Newbie here! Well, newbie in terms of writing! This is my first post. But I have been haunting this beautiful site ever since I came across it, for over an year and a half now! I live in Canada. I recently moved here from India. I have been an ardent fan of this site and have been reading every single review that I am familiar with the names of almost all our frequent writers. Whenever I get a break during my stressful work day, there is nothing I like better than opening up IMBB and checking all the latest reviews, and many times, the older reviews too, which I might have missed earlier! It is such a stress buster. Feels like I am window shopping for all these gorgeous products! And the comments section for each review is something I look forward to reading. There are special tips, alternate product advice, jokes, good-natured banter and a lot of kind encouragement from our readers. Thanks to everyone who has been a part of this amazing site.
I have always wanted to contribute with my own reviews but my work has been so hectic that I never got the chance to do so. Now that I am in Canada and am taking a break from my job, I feel that this is the best time to do so! Hope you like my review and looking forward to your feedback!
Whew! That was a long intro! Let me get straight to the review! Today I am reviewing a foaming face wash from one of my favorite brands – St. Ives. This is the Apricot Cleanser Foaming Face Wash which is a part of the “Fresh Skin” line of products from St. Ives.
A brief description of this line from the St. Ives site:
St. Ives Fresh Skin products – formulated from ingredients you know, like apricots, minerals and olives – give you the power to uncover your best you – naturally revealing fresh, glowing skin.
Product Description:
This face wash deep cleans leaving skin fresh and clean.
Oil Free
Dermatologist Tested
100% Natural Extracts
Key Ingredients:
Apricots contain powerful antioxidants that gently cleanse skin.
Price:CAD $5.49 for 200 ml. Price varies across stores
Application:
Moisten face with water. Dispense product onto fingertips and massage over face. Rinse with water. Avoid direct contact with eyes. In case of contact with eyes, flush thoroughly with water.
My experience with St. Ives Apricot Cleanser Foaming Face Wash:
I have to first tell you about my skin type. It is extremely oily. None of the face washes that I have used so far seem to be able to control this oiliness. Even if they seem to do so immediately after washing, the oiliness sneaks back in an hour or so! Since this face wash claims to be Oil free, I picked it up immediately.
This face wash comes with a pump dispenser, which makes it very convenient for a lazy person like me! Minimal effort! One pump dispenses enough of the product to cover up the entire face. Of course, the pump dispenser makes it not a suitable option to carry with you when you travel.
Though the product name declares it as a foaming face wash, the product comes out of the pump not as foam, but as a regular face wash. Is this normal? I was expecting foam! The texture of the face wash feels very light and non-sticky. It is slightly runny. If I am not careful while pumping this out, it slides right out of my hand!
The face wash is peach / light orange-ish in color. It smells of ripe apricots! It is quite mild smelling and the smell lasts only during washing. But I have to say I am not very fond of this smell! Though, others may like it.My skin does not feel entirely oil-free after I use this. This of course must be because of my over-oily skin and this cleanser might be too gentle to make my skin totally oil free. This may be better suited to normal or dry skinned beauties.I did not experience any break-outs with this product. My skin started getting more oily around 4 hours after washing. Not bad!
Pros of St. Ives Apricot Cleanser Foaming Face Wash:
100% Natural Extracts – Apricot
Oil free and dermatologically tested
Gentle enough to clean skin without drying it out
Controls oil for a few hours
Pump dispenser for ease of use and hygiene
Does not cause break out or irritation
Cons of St. Ives Apricot Cleanser Foaming Face Wash:
Not exactly a foaming face wash as the name suggests
Does not effectively cleanse very oily skin
Not travel friendly
Slightly runny in consistency
May not be available in India yet
Will I repurchase or recommend St. Ives Apricot Cleanser Foaming Face Wash?
I will personally not purchase this again, given my skin type. But people with normal to dry skin should definitely give it a shot, owing to its natural ingredients.
