The Body Shop Blueberry Lip Butter Review

The Body Shop Blueberry Lip Butter

By Keshvi Shah

Hi IMBBians.

Lately, there has been a sudden rush of posts of products from The Body Shop. Looks like many of us are loyal customers of TBS. The products have been so beautifully reviewed that it makes me lust for more and more products. Yet again, I’m reviewing lip butter from TBS. While using the search engine to find if it’s already reviewed or not, I noticed that many of the lip butters are reviewed except the blueberry flavour. There is a post on the blueberry body butter but no review on the blueberry lip butter. Therefore, I’m reviewing it now.

Winter is here; the season of dry, chapped and flaky lips! I’m a lip products lover. Be it lipsticks, lip stains or lip balms and glosses, I love shopping for lip care products. Lip care products enhance your smile by giving it a smooth and beautiful lips look. TBS has a large range of lip balms and lip butters. Lip butters are wax-based much like lip balms but are more emollient as they have a some essential oils in them. They are quite moisturizing, although the staying power suffers due to high amount of oil in lip butters.

Price: Rs. 350 for 10 ml/0.3OZ/9g

My experience with The Body Shop Blueberry Lip Butter:

Blueberry lip butter from TBS comes in a small tub with a screw cap. The packaging is very cute and eye catching. Had it not been for its tub and smell, I wouldn’t have purchased it. It’s a white creamy substance stored in a small tub which is light violet in colour. There was a wide range of lip butters displayed in different flavors, but since I’m a sweet smell lover, I picked up one in blueberry. The tub packing is very unhygienic so I make it a habit to use it only after cleaning my hands and not otherwise. Also, it’s very troublesome for me as I have long nails and the butter always gets stuck in my nails when I dip my finger in the tub to pick up a little quantity of the product.

Only a pea-sized quantity is required to get your entire lips covered. It’s so creamy that my lips feel over coated and heavy. During winters, the lip butter freezes a bit and in summer it melts in the pot, making it messy to use during both the seasons. It does moisturise my lips but comes with many drawbacks. A white layer is formed on the lips initially which doesn’t look nice. Gradually, the substance will be absorbed by your lips and the white layer will fade away. Due to the oils, the staying power of lip butters is very less and needs to be reapplied every 3 hours. The good thing is that it’s miniature in size and therefore can be carried anywhere along with you making it travel-friendly. I wish it had come with a mini spatula to pick up the content, making it more convenient and hygienic to use.

Pros of The Body Shop Blueberry Lip Butter:

• Sweet blueberry smell
• Travel-friendly
• Smooth creamy texture
• Lasting fragrance
• Cute packing
• Quantity is enough to last for a long time

Cons of The Body Shop Blueberry Lip Butter:

• Less staying power.
• Very creamy which makes lips chappy.
• Tub packing is quite unhygienic to use.
• Pricey.
• Forms a whitish layer on lips.

Would I repurchase The Body Shop Blueberry Lip Butter ?

No. I would not recommend it to others for the unhygienic tub pack and otherwise too, it is nothing great to try.

  1. Great and honest review 🙂 While I love nice-smelling products, I’m also not a fan of tub packaging for the same reasons mentioned by you, plus I also find it troublesome having to clean my finger after applying balm from a tub. I’d love to try this if ever TBS come up with a stick packaging for it though!

  2. Hey Sand! I know, the tub packaging is quite disheartening:( The thought of getting this in a stick is exciting but yet again, I don’t like the whitefish layer that it forms 🙁 I would rather prefer one which gives a nice stain to my lips 😀

  3. That’s a sure dud after all who likes white cast on the lips. I am not fond of tub packaged lip balms or butters. I already have 2 Body shop’s tub lip balms and they are unused because I do not feel like using my finger to pick the balm. 🙁

    1. It’s high time they must come up with a new idea of maybe providing a spatula or something. Even I do the same, make a buying decision instantly and later don’t use it
