My Experience with theBalm Dedicated Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick:
Let’s start with the packaging of the product. This liquid lipstick comes in a cream cardboard carton bearing funky prints and fonts on it. The patterns are quite fun and looks nice. The same patterns are also printed on the liquid lipstick tube. The lipstick tube comes in a simple cylindrical shape with a see-through packaging, which helps to spot the shade easily.
The shade name is mentioned at the base of the tube and also on the outer carton. The tube closes securely with a regular screw on cap, which fits securely making it leak proof and travel friendly. The tube is sleek and fits in my clutch easily. The shape of the lipstick is fairly simple and helps to easily store them. The applicator is attached with the cap. The applicator wand is large enough and apt for proper application. The applicator is a regular soft foamy and doe foot type. The slant tip applicator makes the lipstick glides smoothly on the lips giving a perfect pout. Overall, the packaging is fun and travel friendly.
For quite a few months, I am absolutely into bold and bright lip colors rather than usual n*des which I had always preferred. So, I have included some more bold shades to my vanity. The shade “Dedicated” is a cool-toned rich berry color. This is a beautiful berry pink shade, which instantly brightens up my skin tone. The shade is great for Indian skin tones.
This shade is actually somewhere between pink and red. I really love the colour on my lips. The lipstick is super matte and looks classy. It looks velvety once it dries out completely. Though there is no significant sheen or shimmer in this lipstick, but I noticed a few silver shimmer which adds some dimension and prevents the color from looking flat matte.
This lipstick has a mild vanilla fragrance with some minty essence, which is pleasing and not bothersome. It gives a nice and cooling sensation to the lips. It is insanely pigmented. One swipe of this lipstick gives an opaque finish to the lips. I apply a second coat to even out the edges. Overall, I am quite impressed with the color payoff.
The texture of the lipstick is nice and mousse like. Hence, it glides smoothly on the lips without any drag. It never ever settles into the fine lines of the lips. It does not crumble at all and there are no streaking issues. The lipstick is absolutely waterproof and smudge-proof. It is perfectly transfer proof. It does not budge even after a full meal. The formula is lightweight and feels super comfortable on the lips. It does not dry out the lips. The lipstick may highlight the dry patches of the lips, so it is mandatory to keep the lips properly exfoliated and moisturized. The lipstick dries out in some 40-50 seconds. It feels slightly sticky initially but once it dries out completely, it feels like nothing is there on my lips.
The lasting power is super long, it stays for 7-8 hours on my lips. The color looks fresh and intense all the time. It does not smear at all. Removing the lipstick is slightly difficult, as you will need a very good makeup remover to remover it perfectly. I currently love Kiko Milano Pure Clean Milk and Tone for removing waterproof makeup.
