Toni & Guy Moisture Injection Shampoo Review

Hello ladies…

Winters have fully arrived in Delhi post Christmas and I love this winter feel. I am just crazy about it, be it cozying up in the blanket or having hot coffee. Winter dressing equals furry things- gloves, scarves, coats, jackets, BOOOOTSS, and last but not the least the GAAAJAR KA HALWA…: P

The only part I dislike about this chill is the dryness it gives to your face, hands, feet, hair…and the need to over moisturize. It’s a bit too hard for a super laid-back person like me.

Any ways I am not going to review some body cream lotion here, what I intend to review is Toni & Guy Moisture Injection Shampoo.
Normally I get bored of a shampoo after a few uses and move onto something else;

A few months back I read an article on this UK based brand Toni & Guy, Renowned worldwide for their fashion-led salons and expertise,

So, I googled and found something about the brand =

Toni & Guy is an international hair care business founded in London, United Kingdom in 1963 by brothers Giuseppe (Guy) and Gaetano (Toni) Mascolo. They were later joined by younger brothers Bruno and Anthony. There are more than 400 salons in the organization and it has won many hairdressing awards London Hairdresser of the Year (11 times) and South West Hairdresser of the Year 06.

It has its own UK magazine and in-salon television station ‘Toni and Guy TV ’, as well as salons around the world and academies in the UK, Ireland, Germany,USA, Norway, Canada, the Netherlands, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, India, Pakistan, New Zealand, Russia, Sweden and Malaysia. It also manufactures many products in the UK including hair care such as shampoos and styling products (LABEL M) and hair irons

So after seeing a lot of praise about their products, I kept in mind to use it someday.

Around 2 months back, I saw a small counter of Toni & Guy products at shoppers stop MGF Saket. Since, I had high hopes that their products would be decent enough I ended up buying the moisture injection shampoo and volume explosion conditioner.

What this product claims:
This is a super moisturizing shampoo and claims to ‘give dry, brittle hair improved strength and vitality’. It comes in a matt silver-colored bottle with bright pink logo and writing, and has a pump dispenser covered by a translucent cap.
I have normal/ straight hair but they tend to get dry as a result of my coloring sessions…
I generally use color protect shampoos and conditioners but haven’t been really satisfied with any brand.
So had high hopes on this.

My Experience with the Shampoo

The first thing I notice in any shampoo is its smell 😛 (I am a bit kiddish u see). It has extremely mild fragrance, reminds of the Johnson’s & Johnson’sshampoo we use for my nephew. It is absolutely colorless / transparent, has a gel like texture, no shimmer. Here is a picture of it on my palm:

Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed with the shampoo. I struggled a lot to lather this product and ended up using a lot of its quantity as I was worried it wasn’t going to clean the whole of my hair. After rinsing the shampoo out of my hair the smell of my hair wasn’t bad, in fact it smelt ok. My hair did feel softer …

Coming to the pros and cons

Pros of Toni & Guy Moisture Injection Shampoo

1. The shampoo is very mild, very light weight, leaves your super soft and hydrated.
2. Did not leave any residue
3. The pump action works very well and its easy to dispense the required quantity.
4.  It’s easy to distribute and is neither too thick nor too runny.

Cons of Toni & Guy Moisture Injection Shampoo

1. the shampoo does not lather  up well
2. It weighed down my hair badly; I am already a bit sick of my thin/limp hair. Had to shampoo again the following day. 🙂
3. the price = Rs.575 for the quantity = 250 ml is a bit too much

On the whole, it’s an ok shampoo; I won’t recommend it wholeheartedly. Although, good for people with extremely dry hair..Sigh… wish we had a toni and guy salon in delhi as their expertise is more in hair dressing. Will rate the shampoo 3 / 5…   will use the volume explosion conditioner soon and review it too. Hope it turns out good..

And the search for MY HG shampoo is still on…
Have you tried any of the products by toni and guy?

    1. I agree. I have the anti-heat hairspray and the moisture injection serum. I think they both do a great job. Yes, they are a little expensive, but they last a long long time

    1. Zeeba, and everyone else also, infact shampoos which produce lather are harmful to hair because Sodium Laurel Sulphate (SLS) is used to produce lather. Although the other sulphate- Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLES) is not harmful to hair, it cannot produce good lather. Hence most companies use SLS which is harmful to hair. This compound tends to make hair dry very quickly. It strips your hair off its moisture and other essential oils. It also damages your hair follicles and results in hair loss. It is extremely dangerous to hair follicles that are exposed. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is also harmful to color treated hair as it tends to fade the color with every wash. As a result, you might have to color your hair very frequently, which in turn leads to more damage to your hair.

So actually the ‘con’ that it does not lather might be a ‘pro’

        1. Castor, why dontchoo go and make some coffee while I sort this out? You can see how well I was managing without you throwing the spanner in the works.

      2. hey sanjeev, i just noticed the shampoo contains sodium laureth sulfate, = ache wala SLS acc. to u… :)) but even that doesnot make me like d shampoo…. i got to have that shampooo feell..lots of lather when i wash my hair… 😛

thankx for the info. though. will keep it in mind wen i go shampoo shopping next… 🙂

    2. i tried toni and guy ka dry shampoo as in those days- sorry for the cliche.. mujhe sar khujane ki bhi fursat nahi thi… baal dhone ki baat toh aur hi hai… couldnt wash my hair alternate days..so wanted a dry shampoo that could soak in oil and clean it oin some way 😛

but my god it was till date the worst hair product i had ever used… smelt horrible.. never worked even one bit and left soo much residue…
      johnsons baby powder worked better

  2. I have never tried products from this brand but I am soon planning to buy an iron for my hair so I might try their styling products. :))

    Thanks for the review. 🙂

    1. i went to buy iron too , mommy scared me by saying ‘aise bhi kam baal hain, jo hain woh bhi jhad jayenge’ i got sooo scared , came back without buying only … it was so cute .. dark pink color ka … :weep: :weep: :weep: :weep: :weep: :weep: :weep: :weep: :weep: :weep:

      1. actually iasked neha about it and she suggested that one must buy an iron with temperature adjustments. he he he dont go for cuter one, go for a good quality one

            1. i know sum ppl might think i’m mad cos ghd is supposed to be the best and its used by professionals etc…but my cousin bought a remington from london and it straightened as well if not better than the ghd…my point is why spend 200pounds sterling or more when remington is way much cheaper!!!!and there are many cheaper brands that do an equally decent job…the ceramic plates and the temeperature control part makes a big difference…
im happy i got saved from spending 250US$ when i went to the US last year..

        1. haan .. i saw philips ka digital wala, it has timer and temp control and everything .. and it was pink also …. sad i didnt buy .. 🙁

    2. hi rati, i damaged my hair last yr while straightning thm…n seriously u cant do much abt it other thn just chopping off the burnt hair :((( i really avoid it now, n if i hav dt urge , thn i get it done professionally…
neways, if u still want one, invest in a ceramic one, a frend of mine works at looks n dats wht she suggested me..
thankx for uploading my review 🙂

      1. also, she suggested loreals hair tech, iron finish . it shud b used before ironing ur hair to provide some protection frm damage.

    1. @ Anshu:a flat iron can also curl your hair. The exact same tool you use as a straightener does double duty to create gorgeous, bouncy curls

Choose the right flat iron. You need a skinny one(for curling); an inch-and-a half or less is best. If your hair is very coarse or curly, the flat iron needs to get very hot, at least 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Look for a flat iron with rounded edges on the plates to prevent unnatural “dents” in your hair.

the brand would depend on how much u want to spend…

  3.    I came to see for myself….
