My Experience with Urban Decay Vice Mega Matte Lipstick Alpha:
This is my second lipstick from Urban Decay. I reviewed Tryst yesterday from their cream finish range. Alpha is a stuuuning bright pinkish red color. It is cool toned and a super bight shade. This color somehow always gets me compliments whenever I wear it. It is a very pigmented lipstick. One swipe gives you a full opaque coverage. Although it is a mega matte lipstick, it goes on evenly on lips without tugging or pulling. It clings on to the lips like a stain and is very long lasting. It stays on for good 6 hours on my lips and then leave s bright pink stain behind until I remove the lipstick with a makeup remover.
However, I do find this lipstick a bit drying. And on days when my lips are dry it accentuates the fine lines of my lips. Although it is a comfortable to wear and not really a drying lipstick. But if given a choice, I’d definitely pick a cream finish over this one. I find cream finish more forgiving than this. But if you are a matte lipstick lover, you would absolutely love this one. It has that nice matte stain-like finish to it that does not look dry or cakey. It has a thin texture that prevents from it looking cakey. It is more like a bright pop of stain on the lips with a comfort of lipstick. I love that vice lipsticks do not have any taste or smell to them. This transfers quite a bit but not as much as a cream formula. I am totally getting in the habit of blotting the lipsticks so I don’t mind that at all. But mega matte finish is definitely not a crazy transfer one. I don’t find it either hydrating or drying but as I mentioned before, if your lips are generally dry this is not the lipstick you’d be reaching for that day.
I am not the hugest fan of the gunmetal packaging. Although the ends of the lipsticks are coloured so makes it easier for them to store. But I’d prefer better packaging. This feels a bit plastick-y that I don’t really enjoy.
Overall, I am obsessed with these lipsticks. The texture, formula, colors, the staying power- every thing gets a good big thumbs up from me. Would definitely recommend these. 🙂
