I’m excited right now – a product which had been on my wishlist was just delivered to me. So I thought what better way to use my charged state of adrenaline than to write a review! I though of sharing with you another YSL shade – this time back to pink Fuchsia.
This by the way is the shade used on the model for the YSL Rouge Volupte shine line ads– so picking this colour was a no-brainer. However, it would so often be sold out across the counters that it took me time to get my hands on this. Was it worth the wait – lets find out.

I sometimes wonder if I should skip this part coz its been covered in previous lipshades. But then, for someone who comes across this column through a google search cant be expected to go check 1 review for X thing and another review for Y thing of the same product. That’s really irksome!
The YSL Voluptes and Volupte Shines have similar packaging –breathtakingly beautiful golden casing with the YSL logo running in the middle within a coloured strip – colour reflects the shade of the product in the tube.Elegant, unique and yet functional. The lipstick has a regular twist-upmechanism. But it takes a strong heart to use these for the first time coz you just don’t want to change the perfectness of the product – you can just sit and stare at it. Trust me, Im not exaggerating!!
These come packaged in a cardboard golden box, which makes photography a nightmare!
My experience with YSl – Rouge Volupte Shine – #5 Fuchsia in Excess:
Color: The colour is a Fuchsia Pink – bold and vibrant. There is no shimmer – just a glossy wet look which gives it a transparency and a vibrant hue.The colour would look beautiful on all skintones across the spectrum. The luminosity makes it look translucent which should make it easier for those people to wear who are generally not used to wearing bold shades.
Texture: The texture is very glossy and has a lot of slip. It glides on like a dream with buttery softness.Itsextremely moisturizing. And need not worry about a lip balm or a lip gloss with this range. Also, there is no stickiness, despite the glossy texture. I love the fact that despite the slip, it does not gather into the fine lines of the lips.
Pigmentation: Its nicely pigmented.A single swipe deposits 60-70% color– which can be built up with 2-3 swipes. Unlike Corail incandescent reviewed earlier, With Fuchsia in excess, you are able to build up to the colour on the tube. The colour though actually opaque on the lips, appearstranslucent coz of the glossiness.
Lasting power:The product lasts about 3-4 hours. Further, it lives behind a pretty stain, which sticks on for hours – till you actually remove it with a remover. Since the lipstick is moisturizing, the stain itself is not patchy or uneven.
