YSL Rouge Volupte Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick – Corail Extreme

YSL Rouge Volupte Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick – Corail Extreme

I have been busy lately with in-laws at home. But thought it’s high time I did another lipstick review and what better lipstick to pick than a YSL. YSL has a number of lipstick ranges, to name a few:

  • YSL Volupte.
  • YSL Volupte Shine.
  • YSL Volupte Perle.
  • YSL Pur Couture.
  • YSL Pur Couture the Mats.

The first two ranges have always been the most sought out ranges from the YSL arsenal – wonder if it has anything to do with their packaging! I earlier reviewed a Rouge Volupte Shine #19 Fuchsia in Rage. Today’s lippy is from the more creamy Rouge Volupte range.

Product Description:

An object of desire, this award-winning lipstick is wrapped in a romantic, elegant gold case that exudes luxury. Each signature shade saturates lips in captivating color that’s intensely pigmented, and imparts an irresistible glossy shine. The long-lasting, comforting formula is highlighted with a unique Color-shine Complex that leaves lips visibly smoother, plumper and more radiant. Light, silky texture smoothes on a veil of satiny, sensual color that’s altogether alluring.

YSL packaging is a game changer, it looks luxe, has the heft of a luxury product, is detail oriented with the fab placement of the YSL logo and is practical. The fact that it is blatantly drool worthy is beside the point!!  It’s almost like owning a piece of jewelry. The golden casing has the YSL logo running in the middle within a coloured strip – colour reflects the shade of the product in the tube. So, its easy to identify the shade from afar and has the weight and luxurious feel of an upmarket brand.  After you are finished staring at the case lovingly, you open it and twist the lipstick out, to ogle at it for some more time, it looks gorgeous! Period!  It comes packaged in a cardboard golden box, which makes photography a nightmare.

My Experience with YSL Rouge Volupte Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick – Corail Extreme:

Rouge Voluptes and Volupte Shines were launched ages ago, but still remain the most sought after line of lipsticks in the world.

Colour: The colour is reddish-orange coral (no pink in it) – it’s a warm shade. I do believe that the colour would suit almost all skin tones and would look particularly lovely on more warmer ones. The red in it will stand out for the light toned ladies. For the dark skinned gals, the orange shade would get accentuated. However, it never looks full on orange, so it’s definitely not loud or garish.

Texture: The texture is extremely creamy and slippery and it glides on so smoothly. Actually, it glides on so smoothly that it is very easy to lose control and go off the lip lines. It has a lot of slip and does transfer easily. The lipstick keeps the lips hydrated for as long as its there. In the lighter shades, I feel the lipstick does settle into the fine lines; however, not the case with darker shades.

Pigmentation:  Superb pigmentation, about 90% colour deposit in one swipe and one swipe is enough to make the colour stand out.

Staying Power:  The lipstick lasts for about 4 hours on my lips and leaves a soft stain behind. The stain is not as strong as the Pur Couture line.  The stain is not drying on my lips, which is a change! So all in all, you get about 6 hours of colour with this, lipstick and stain!

To sum this up for you:

Pros of YSL Rouge Volupte Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick – Corail Extreme:

  • Fantastic colour, one of the brightest yet wearable shades of red-orange I have come across!
  • The colour would suit all skin tones as long as you are comfortable wearing a bright colour.
  • The lipstick glides on like butter, no tug, no pull.
  • Considering the bright colour and how softly it glides on, there was no feathering or bleeding.
  • Hydrates the lips while on.
  • The colour stains which lasts for good 2 hours on the lips.
  • Applies easily from the tube.
  • Does not settle into the fine lines of the lips.
  • Luxe and practical packaging.

Cons of YSL Rouge Volupte Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick – Corail Extreme:

  • The lipstick transfers easily because of the soft texture.

IMBB Rating:

Love the YSL Volupte line – though I am more partial to the Volupte Shine than the original Voluptes like this, but they are both a stunning range. It’s a great pick in terms of texture, shades available and the stunning packaging. The only issue I have with them is that they don’t last long on the lips, they disappear, but it’s pure joy to reapply because you get to hold the lovely lipstick all over again. So, have you tried a YSL Volupte yet?

    1. You can match the colour with the dupe but not necessarily the texture! Gift it to yourself as your birthday gift. If Birthday is too far off, make it a Holi gift or belated Valentine gift!

    1. Yes, it is totally a summer shade! Let me finish with the YSL series – (intend covering all my YSL lippies first and 1 blush) – then take your pick! More gorgeous colours on their way…

  6. It looks really nice on you, KK, I love YSL lippies, I have only 1 I think, I have already reviewed it here. Must check out this range soon. Thanks for the review. 🙂

  7. i cant carry corals, they dont look good on me, upto now i had only 1 coral one which suited me from loreal i think, i bought 7-8 coral ones, but not even one suited me *headbang* , so i returned, but this look great on u *drool* , how many YSL u have KK?

    1. I do have a few YSLs – love the texture n packaging on these. Corals itself have a great range from pinky ones to redder tones to orangish ones like this. Im sure you would rock it once you know which shade of coral suits you more. The Loreal one you like should give you an idea on this. YSL Voluptes have an amazing range of pinks as well…will be reviewing them next.
