My job gives me immense satisfaction and I get up every morning without any Monday or Sunday Blues and neither do I get that very rampant β€œThank God It’s Friday” feelings on Friday!” IMBB is like a second home to me where I interact with so many lovely people on a daily basis and I do not even miss a single day on IMBB. I have gained so much here on IMBB in terms of getting more enlightened about makeup, making friends, and oh yes, being happy surrounded by so many lovely souls. My dream is to take IMBB to the highest possible height and to continue working here because this is where my passion and heart is”

With an immense desire to see the world and read unlimited books, she takes inspiration from amazing people like her own bosses – Rati and Sanjeev, who wake up each day just to work hard on their dreams. Also, IMBB has got her hooked on to makeup and fitness, she confesses.

  1. hi rati!

like you, i too am a diehard makeup lover. i have been searching the net for good reviews about makeup products that are easily available in india but was so far disappointed. thankfully i stumbled upon your blog today through a quick google search. i havent read all your posts but the one about colorbar makeup brushes caught my eye as it mentioned select citywalk. i am a frequent visitor to that mall and personally feel that it is THE place to go to in delhi as far as makeup is concerned. i live in dwarka and its great to know that theres someone out here in my city who not only shares my passion for makeup but takes the time and effort to blog about it. i will be truly happy if you get in touch with me or reply.
you can contact me further through my blog whose link has been posted.

    love,
    rima kaur

  2. Hi Rima,

Welcome to my blog. I am so glad you liked it and thankful to Google as well who directed you here. πŸ˜›

I know I love Select City Walk. I am yet to explore so much of it. Although I feel the Shopper’s Stop in Metropolitian stores all outdated stuff. I am so glad all these international brands are coming up with their stores in India. We don’t feel too outdated now. πŸ˜€

Stay around and do let me know if you are looking for any specific product review. πŸ™‚

  6. Hi Rati

I’m looking to get some advice about make up products in India as my mum will be visiting Dehli and I’m really keen to get some Indian holy grail products. Are there any particular brands you would recommend for blush and lip products. I’m also looking for a soft black khol so I’m going to ask for the Himalya one you recommended. Any must have products that you think I need as someone who doesn’t have access to them abroad? Thanks Priyanka xoxo

  7. HI Priyanka,

I suggest go for Lotus Kajal, it is even better than Himalaya Kajal, I am using it these days and I simply love it. You can look at getting Himalaya’s neem face wash, it’s great.Apart from that you can ask your mom to take a look at Colorbar Products. I love their blushes (especially the trace gold blush and peachy rose), nail paints, and lipsticks. For mum, you can ask her to buy 1-2 tubes of Lakme Sindhoor. πŸ˜› She would love it. Lakme cheek and lip tint has some of the great reviews around but I have not used it personally. It is claimed to be one of the most natural looking blushe around.

We have Revlon, Maybelline, Body Shop, Bourjois, Max Factor, Cliniqe, Lancome , Mac etc. here. You tell me if you don’t have any of these brands there. I can suggest you products from these brands.

Regarding Skin Care, Fab India has some awesome products. Their facials sprays are something to die for. Their moisturizing creams (day/ night) and soaps are also great.

  8. Hi Rati,

I was surfing the net for some advise on good eye-liners and found most blogs on makeup and beauty by non-indians or NRIs with reviews abt products we usually dont get here in India….After a lot of surfing I finally came upon your blog and was so glad to see reviews about products easily available here, will surely go through ur entire blog….I currently use Revlon eyeliner on a daily basis on my waterline. Though it does not smudge, it wears off very easily and after a couple of hours it doesnt even seem like I had applied one…..Can you advise on some good eyeliner which does not smudge, does not wear off and is long-lasting…

    Cheers

  9. Hi HD,

You are exactly saying what I used to say a few months back. I used to surf for Indian makeup blogs and used to get diverted on blogs written by Indians who are staying in some different part of the world. I am so glad you found my blog useful.

For a long lasting and a smudge proof eye liner, I have only one name- colorbar. I get irritated by these liners at times because they don’t smudge. πŸ˜› But I love them a lot. They stay on endlessly and are a great for long day wears. πŸ™‚

  10. Wooow…after endless surfing on trying to figure out the best eye pencil, I don’t believe I actually have got some serious good advise. I had even checked w my friends all of whom use different brands of eye pencils but everyone faced the same problem…thanks so much for ur advise

  11. Hi HD- I am talking about the I Define Eye pencils : http://colorbarcosmetics.com/Products/I-Define-Eye-Pencil__EP.aspx

The truffle colour is the most gorgeous shade of brown I have found yet and midnight black is the blackest black among a lot of liners around. Do buy is sharpener, its for Rs 99 but an excellent thing to have. I have the sharpener for almost an year now and the blade is as sharp as ever and it sharpens my pencils without braking them. there is also a tiny stick behind the sharpener, which is used to clean the surface of blade. πŸ™‚

  12. Thanks Rati….will buy soon….I already have the sharper w a tiny stick which again is am using from arnd 2 years and its still as good…so will begin w the eye pencil

  13. hey I bght the colorbar eye pencil yest πŸ˜‰ I had to decide between Lakme Glide On, Colorbar and Maybelline…Maybelline unstoppable was the retractable type and I prefer the pencil types which need to be sharpened..also the store didnt hv the tester for Maybelline…Lakme was good too…but the color was mettalic black…which was more like dark grey and I wanted something in black as this was my basic eyeliner…so bght colorbar ;)…also wanted to checkout Colorbar tracegold blush and concealer as I have dark circles but both were out of stock so will check those out in my next visit

  14. i also checked the lakme eye artist liner and liked it but not too sure whr n how I can use it…hv u used that?? I normally use eye pencil on my waterline and lakme liquid eyeliner on my upper lashline…I can never apply eyeliner properly on my lower lashline…can you give some tips πŸ˜‰

  15. I told you Colorbar’s liner is the blackest of black I have found yet. I also like the pencils that can be sharpened. I am a bacteria freak. πŸ˜› Lakme’s nine to five liners are good but I won’t re buy them because they are retractable types.

I really like lakme eye artist and I use it only on my upper lash line. It’s a liquid liner in pen form so doesn’t make sense to use such a liquid thing in your waterline. I generally use kajal in my lower lashline and in very rare occasions eyeliner pencils. I just make sure that the eye pencils are medically tested and are safe to use inside the eye. I will do a teeny weeny tutorial for you for application on lower lash line. It’s very easy. πŸ™‚

  16. Thanks Rati….I hope colorbar pencil would be fine to be used on waterline as thats wht I have bght this for πŸ˜‰ Have used the Revlon pencil until now and other than wearing away issue I dint face any problem medically with it…yeah even the SA told me that the Lakme eyeartist if for upper and lower lashline, not waterline….but i liked the final outcome….though its a liquid pencil…it looks very different from the normal liquid eyeliners after its set…Thanks soo much for ur advise once again and I will be a regular visitor here for sure now πŸ˜‰

  17. I have used Colorbar’s pencil on my water line a few times and I have had no issues with it. But different people react to stuff differently so you might give it a try. πŸ™‚

Yes, Lakme’s eye artist gives this glossy finish, which I quite like.

I am glad you liked my recommendations. Thanks a lot. πŸ™‚

  18. yes..have applied that today..no probs as yet and lets wait for the day to end to see how its stayed…btw which kajal do u use for waterline? eagerly waiting for the eyeliner tutorial….can you also include the tutorial on how you use the eye artist…Thanks again!

    Cheers!!

  19. let me see. πŸ™‚ I have been using Kajals since the time I was born. These days it’s Lotus Kajal. πŸ˜€ I am quite liking it. Himlaya’s Kajal is also good.

  20. Hey Rati….I used a new product today which I recently bght so thght of sharing it with you…it may help you or some of your readers…..On my recent trip to a’bad I bght the Khadi Pudina Cream Cleanser and must say it really is good….I have been using Neutrogena cleanser until now and that has been good too other than the most common complaint ppl have with cleansers i.e eyes getting stung…though my eyes did get stung w the Khadi cleanser too it was much much much less compared to the Neutrogena one..it removed almost 98% of my makeup including colorbar eyepencil, just a wee bit left when u wipe the area arnd the eye with a cloth….the fragrance is Pudina which I liked too and my skin is very soft after using this cleanser…I also bght a scrub from Khadi and now cant wait to try that even….the price is also very reasonable…Rs. 95 for 210ml……and has all the ingredients listed w quantity per 1 kg….

  21. OH great! I have used quite a few Khadi products such as face wash, oils, neem pack and shampoos but have not seen the pudina cleanser here, I might look out for it the next time I hit the store. πŸ™‚ Pudina sounds nice- fresh and minty. Thanks for sharing. Yes, the prices are quite reasonable for the quantity that they provide. I used Neutrogena’s eye cream but didn’t like it. Now I am quite skeptical about buying something else from the brand.

And by the way you also have to give me an update on your liner. How did it perform during the day? πŸ™‚

  22. yes i rem…i think i’ll use it for some more days before giving u an update…during ofc days I dont hv to do alot of travelling so the liner tends to stay..the actual test would be when I am out for long hrs travelling in auto/train…if you want I can send u pics of the khadi product so tht its easier for you to spot..lemme know….I have only used the Neutrogena cleanser till now and it has been good….I knw of alot of ppl who vouch for the Neutrogena Facewash…i recently tried the Himalaya Fruit Pack, but dont think it made any difference to my skin…can you advise how often shud one use a face pack and how does it help

  23. Oh yes, do send me the pics at mirrorobsession@gmail.com πŸ™‚ I’ll be glad to see. I have used Himalaya’s fruit pack and quite liked it. Infact, it really helped me detan after I came back from a Goa Holiday.

When you are travelling in local trains or buses, do wear sun glasses an cover your face with a cotton scarf completely. This would keep your skin in better condition.

If you have normal to dry skin, use face pack once in a week. Someone with oily skin can use facepack twice a week. Just make sure that your face is clean before you apply a pack. Face packs exfoliate and tightens your skin. They are like a skin food. πŸ™‚

  24. thanks again!!! though I travel by auto to ofc I over my entire head and face with a scarf without fail…does the facepack have to be used for some time for the effects to be seen? Another new product I strted using since last 2 days is the ponds age miracle cream w SPF15…its a good moisturiser w very light shimmer particles which provide a nice glow to the face n since it hs SPF i dont need to separately apply sunscreen to the face…just incase u wanna try out

  25. Facepack should be a part of your regular face routine-once a week. WIll look out for it, I have heard a lot about the product now. I’d better get it. πŸ˜›

  26. I discovered your blog just recently and really like it! When you get a chance, check out my blog at http://www.kajalcouture.blogspot.com. Some of the products might not be available in India, but I know the bigger brands like MAC are available there. When I was in India last month I was really wanting to try out some local brands like Lakme, but it was very overwhelming! Next time I go I will be sure to check for some of your recommendations!

  27. HI Kajal,

Welcome abaoard. I will surely check out your blog. You didn’t miss much by not trying Lakme but I guess by your next trip to India I would have loads to suggest you. πŸ™‚

    Do stay around. πŸ™‚

  28. Hi!!
So happy to have found your blog. Lots of similarities.. me too got interested in makeup post my wedding last year (much to the shock/surprise of my hubby :)).. He knew me before wedding as this no-makeup or kajal-mascara girl.. and post all that wedding makeup.. I am FULL into blush, eyeshadow, shimmer.. what have you πŸ˜€ . Like many others struggled to find good products/reviews/info catered to Indian women. What a JOY to find this! keep it going.. you have one more loyal fan here.
    cheers!
P.S: hubby rolls his eyes each time I surf makeup blogs, buy a new product..but never stops me from doing so! Looks like the better “with makeup” looks are appreciated πŸ˜‰ Am feverishly reading all your old posts.

    1. Hi DIvya,

Welcome to M&B. This is so my story. My hubby says that he has been cheated. πŸ˜› I didn’t use to do any makeup before and now I am adddited to it. he he he

This is so MY story. Do stay around. We’ll have fun. πŸ™‚

    1. Oh the store has started from today onwards. It is an amazon store so it is completely safe to use. πŸ™‚ You would also get to read some reviews on every product that you may want to purchase.

      1. Oh thank god! I was wondering how I’d missed it! πŸ˜€

So the stuff comes from abroad?! Shipping charges are high na πŸ™ although I’m eyeing a few things πŸ˜€

        (great idea btw :*)

Welcome to my blog. πŸ™‚ I am so glad you found me. It’s a lovely happy family here at IMBB and we would love you to be a part of it.

Thank you for all the kind words and the “name” credit goes to my dad. Will let him know that. πŸ˜›

Will mail you regrading what you suggested.

    Stay around. :-*

  35. Hey Rati,

Just wanted to say that you are doing a fabulous job with the blog.

I stumbled across it last month while searching for some products. Have read almost everything on it. I got inspired to actually experiment with neutral lip shades (I usually stick to warm shades of pink) after reading your blog entries. So I went out and bought myself a Revlon Colorburst lipstick in Hazelnut. Its amazing! Thank you for that.

I’m obsessed with make-up; have been so since the age of 21 when I went through a matte-navy blue eyeshadow phase (yes! it was horrible, and my sister threatened to disown me for it). πŸ˜€ I’ve graduated to, ahem, more dignified shades since then. :-))

I’m glad to have discovered your blog, Rati.

I have a question for u… I have heard that using a white/nude eyeliner on the lower waterline opens up the eyes. Can u please tell me where can I find such an eyeliner (the brands and the places where they are available) and also the costs. I usually shop in Pune, Nagpur and Chennai….

I read a lot of your old posts also! πŸ™‚ I love the way you present information, love the makeup reviews, fashion advice, tips.. everything! 46. hello everyone,
I m Prachi from ghaziabad… i have acne prone skin so was searching for make up tips for myself and stumbled on ur blog. at first i thought its just like rest of make up blogs which talk about only high end make up products which i dont wanna buy ‘coz am not into regular makeup., only occasionly, even that will give me acne. after surfing it i realised its just what I need. I dont have regular access to malls only local market so dont know what to pick whenever i go to some malls as there prices seems to high so u know everyone thinks what if it didn’t suit me…. but now thanks to ur blog now i knw wht to pick and how to apply make up properly… so thank u

  47. Hi Rati,
I’ve just started reading your blog and i would like to thank you for starting it up! i’v ejust started using makeup and thig blog really helped me in making my decisions to buy various products.
Also it looks like you have tried almost all the products in the market so i think you would be the best person who can solve my beauty related problems and queries. :))
I have really dry and wavy hair..not exactly curly but very wavy. i cannot do anything with my hair except tie a pony tail or straighten or curl them with an iron.
I’m really fond of straight hair but not sure if i want to straighten them permanently..the chemical treatments sound kinda scary and i’v seen people regretting to have done them.
Whenever i straighten my hair using the straightening iron or a flat iron. my hair don’t stay straight for more than 10 minutes. after that they feel very dry and get back to their normal frizzy self. can you suggest some hair serum or something like that which would hold my hair straight for a few hours? i have tried Schwarzkopf products but they arent working for me. Please suggest something which would hold my hair straight and also look and feel soft and silky.
    waitting eagerly for your reply,
    Soni

  48. Hi Rati,

I have been following your blog since the last 3months and first and foremost, I’d like to say ‘Thank You!!’..I got married last month and got all this make up but being a color-phobic person, had no idea how to use most of the vibrant hues..I was just googling to try and get some instruction..I went through soooooo many sites and I found it so confusing and complicated. Then I happened to stumble upon your blog and the rest is history.

I have learnt alot through your blog and have invested in more good quality products. This blog is one I check into every 1hour or so daily (even at work  ) and simply love reading all articles. Apart from learning, its a whole lotta fun!

    Thanks a ton!! :thanks:

Thanks to IMBB I could chose the right kajal which until recently had been a challenge for a makeup illiterate like me .

What I did not find was review of vanity cases and make up boxes from well known brands. The reason for asking this being ,I am getting married in a few months and hence have been on a look out for good vanity case . Friends abroad swear by Sonia Kashuk make up bags but I have been trying to find something more spacious and boxy πŸ™‚ Could you help ?

  113. hi rati,

I was not a make up person at all, with my minimal looks I was some what happy. But as i married an army man, I joined the league of makeup crazy people. shopped a lot and ended up buying shades which were loud for my wheatish skin and made me look even more dull. And I realized need for change in my vanity.
I will say that because google directed to your webpage, while I looking for some lipstick shades. i for the first time saw your webpage.

I will say a lil bit change in my make up routine is my dedication to your hardwork.

    Thanx

    love

    smita singh

  117. Hi Rati, this is my first post in IMBB. I have slowly started depending on your site , and I guess very soon I’ll refer IMBB even before buying a hairclip πŸ˜€ . I love the way posts are written. I too wanted to write and contribute. So I want to know, that already there are several makeup products reviewed on the site. So can the same product be reviewed twice? Or it has to be a different/new product?

  118. Hi Rati,

I am connected with IMBB from 3-4 months and I really appreciate almost all the postings.
best Thing is gals share their experiences with the products which they have used. Before buying any cosmetic I always check for the reviews here . Simply luv it.

Well Rati, I basically belongs to Delhi but I am in Kolkata from last 3yrs and there are lots of (BAD) Changes in my skin and Hair. Somehow I am able to manage my skin but my hair are really in bad condition. I almost tried all Shampoos with conditioners but day by day hair fall in increasing and they have become dry. I am afraid now coz I cant give any style to my hair.

  131. Hi Rati & Team,

Today is the first time I am commenting on your blog !
I love buying and trying new beauty products and before making my purchase I always try and read reviews on the products. I also make a conscious effort to check if the product is not tested on animals, since I am very particular about buying cruelty free products. When I look for reviews online, I would aways be greeted by articles by IMBB members and I would just keep coming back to your blog!
The reviews are so crisp and informative and I have always found them the most useful compared to other review blogs.
I am a big fan and decided to join the community πŸ™‚

Hoping to contribute , pick up some great tips and enjoy all the beauty convos!

  132. Spent thirty minutes reading up on both you guys..must say made me teary eyed at one point. Love you guys!

  141. ASK IMBB

    Hello Friends,

I am looking for the best hair stylist in Delhi/Gurgaon.
I have a problem that my hair do not grow fast , it takes a year even for 2-3 inches so i cant take a risk with a wrong hair cut.

Could you please suggest me the stylist who can actually give me the best style as per my face shape.

    Thanks!
    Pratibha

  142. Hi Rati,
I am following your blog from 2 years now and I am avid follower of your beauty regimens and all the discussions which are done in your blog

  143. Yes I am also a fan of IMBB, I have often visited this site for learning about new products and reading reviews for quite some time. However recently I have started interacting through comments and also started writing reviews for them. Believe me this was a thorough learning process for me specially, where photos were concerned. Now I understand the pain and efforts THESE respected PIONEERS of IMBB and hard work of the entire IMBB team put in to bring out so many reviews on daily basis and manage other relevant websites and various other things. Hats off & Cheers to Mrs. Rati, Mr. Sanjeev, Ms. Jomol & Ms. Shikha. Their recently started “Vanity” is also a great help to so many people who can place their advertise or be referred and be known on this IMBB website. ????????????.
Here I would like to add that I am glad and feel proud to be a contributor on this website and deeply THANK the entire IMBB team for giving me this opportunity. ?

  144. Hi Rati,

I have just come across your website & I am so so impressed with all the reviews posted here. Really helpful. Kudos!

I have a quick question, need your suggestion. I am in my early 30s & have dry to combination skin. I use Fabindia Vitamin E night cream & it really works for me. What I am looking for though is a good daily moisturiser with SPF which i can use all year around. My face tends to get dry during harsh winters & stays mostly normal to oily T zone rest of the year. I do have a sweating problem, sometime in excessive which is a big problem in using any moisturiser. I work from home, so mostly stay indoors. Do you suggest any particular brand daily moisturiser which I can use? I am trying to stay off of most cosmetic brands & trying to use only ones which are against animal cruelty.

It would be great if you can suggest something. Meanwhile, I will be browsing though the wbesite to check out most of the reviews on other products. I am really liking the detailed & in depth description of each product in the blogs. Awesome!
