My Skin Care and Hair Care Routine

So here comes my skin care and hair care routine. 😛

Cleanser:

I use Kama every morning and Aroma Magic Face Wash every evening.

Cleanser Toner :

  • (Review) Fab India Rose Water
  • Khadi Rose Water : I am nt too fond of it. I don’t find the fragrance very natural . Also I feel Fab India’s rose water is more refreshing and soothing than Khadi Rose water.
  • (Review) Himalaya Gentle Refreshing Toner: Use it whenever it is handy.
  • (Review) Clinique Clarifying Lotion No 2 : I use it once in two days. It helps in keeping my skin squeaky clean by taking out dirt from my pores , imo.

Mostly I use rose water twice a day but if it’s too hot , I just apply it wherever I feel like.

Toner

Moisturiser:

It’s heavy, takes time in getting absorbed during summer months but this is the only moisturizer that keeps my dry skin soft and hydrated. Can’t exchange it for anything. I use it twice a day.

Moisturiser Sunscreen:

  • Lotus Sunscreen SPF 30: If I don’t apply it, I get sunburns on my skin. It takes a little time to get absorbed but I don’t mind that. If I am indoors, i apply it once a day but if I am traveling, I just clean my face with wet tissues and then I reapply it. Later I do touch ups.

sunscreen Lip Balms :

  • EOS
  • Carmex
  • Lotus Lip Balm

I think EOS is the best among the lot.

Face Packs:

Use either of them once a week. I completely love Fab India Coral glow face. It leaves my skin soft and is much better than Himalaya fruit pack. But Himalaya fruit pack gives me ease of usage. In Fab India Coral glow pack you have to apply milk if you have dry skin and curd if you have oily skin. Completely love it. It leaves my skin soft and refreshed after I use it. face packs

Face Scrubs :

  • (Review) Aroma Magic Mineral Glow Face Scrub : I bought this at Ki Ki’s recommendation and I am quite liking it. It’s very effective on skin. In fact, I have to say that this is the best foot scrub I have ever used. It leaves my feet so clean as if I have got a pedicure done.
  • Himalaya Gentle Apricot Scrub: It’s an okayish scrub. I mainly use it everyday to scrub the tip of my nose to avoid black heads.

I use scrubs once in 2-3 days. Scrubs Cleansing Milk:

  • (Review) Kaya Hydra Cleanse Makeup Remover : I mainly use it to remove my eye makeup. I have to makeup sure that it does not go into my eyes because it stings pretty badly but other than that, I completely love it.
  • (Review) Fab India Lavander Cleansing Milk : This is my HG cleansing milk and I don’t think anyone else is taking over this soon. 😛

Cleansing milk Body :

Other than that I like to use hand made soaps by Khadi and Fab India.

The Body Shop Strawberry Exfoliator

Hands and Feet:

  • The Nature’s Company Walnut Mint foot Scrub : It;s nice. I use it almost daily. It doesn’t dry my feet but it doesn’t remove dead skin from my feet completley. Also, you have to use a lot of it to make it work. I like it a lot but I think Himalaya Apricot/ Walnut scrubs work equally well for feet. It smells very minty and fresh. I might repurchase it but not to sure.
  • (Review) The Nature’s Co Sweet Almond Foot cream :  Excellent foot Cream. It gets absorbed quickly in feet and keeps feet soft through out the day.
  • (Review) Blossom Kochhar Aroma Magic Hand Softner : Excellent for winters but takes a hell lot of time to get absorbed in summers.

All the three things are almost finished now. Any recommendations for good hand cream? I would be picking up Himalaya’s foot cream since so many of you have recommended it.

Foot Care Body Lotion :

I use it once a day and it keeps my skin soft though out the day without causing any dryness.

body lotion

Hair Care :

Oil: I oil Massage my hair with Figaro Olive oil once a week. I have been using it for 6-7 years now and that’s the only oil that suits my hair.

hair oil

Shampoo and Conditioner:

  • Loreal  Total Repair 5: This is my second bottle. When I used it initially it worked fine but now it’s giving me hair fall, making my hair frizzy and what not. It’s a pretty crappy shampoo, imo.
  • Fab India Aloe Vera Protein Conditioner: Excellent is the only word I have for this. It leaves my hair super soft. I want to try their shampoos as well now.

shampoo

I sometimes rinse my hair with the left over beer. That’s it. 😉

  1. loved reading it all……………..but plz tell how do u get time to use all of it…….i wud luv to do the same but my routine is hellish…doesnt allow me …..and ofcourse how do u convince ur husband into buying all this stuff…………….some beauty time management tips and hubby convincing tips ….. plz……

  2. Shilpa,.

I didn’t buy all these products in one go and I have collected them over months . I do take out time to take care of my skin. I think most of us do and you should also do it. 🙂

And none of the product (except a few) mentioned above is more than 100-150 bucks. 🙂

  3. loved reading it!!!

I think I too will get the aroma magic mineral scrub….sounds good now…

Me 2 addicted to Strawberry body polish thanks to IMBB!! You knw infact..a friend of mine is coming from UK soon so I was checking out the rates of all the stuff so I cud make my list of Body shop things but I was soo disappointed to find out that the Body polish is more expensive there!!!!!!!!! I dont understand how!!!! US may coz of taxes as u said but how is it exp in UK????

Hey cn u review the fab india coral face pack?

N like Shilpa I too have the Q..how do u get time for soo much??

    BTW…I dont use sunscreens while I am at home….shud I start ?

    1. a stupid Q…how do u use the almond moisturizer and Body shop lotion at the same time??? coz from the post it looks like u use both of them daily ?:-)

      1. Almond moisturizing lotion is for face. TBs body lotion is for body. If I don’t use body lotion, my skin gets all dry . 🙁

I thought TBS was UK company and prices should be lesser there. Strange.

I will review the coral pack for sure. This week only. 🙂

Honestly it barely takes 5-7 minutes in morning and the same in evening. It’s just the matter of bringing yourself in system. 🙂

Use sunscreen daily, indoors or outdoors, cloudy or sunny. Use it.

        1. Okay madame….I ALWAYS use it outdoors cloudy or sunny…but from tom it shall be indoors too

All other products except for the body lotion is much cheaper there…I am planning to get the Sweet lemon body whip, cocoa body butter, sweet lemon scrub, blue corn face mask…anything else u think I cud get??

I sometimes skip moisturization during summers n monsoons…I find the sunscreen good enuf, dont need more than that…Use it regularly at night and even sometimes during daytime during winters and sometimes at night during summers n monsoons…thts OK rite? Mumbai winter is anyways less harsh than Delhi 😕

I think other than that our regime is quite similar…Facewash twice a day, cleanser for makeup removal, scrub once in 2-3 days, facepack weekly (though i am still hunting for a facepack that works for me)

          1. he he I think you are buying enough already. 😛 May be you could check out the terracotta foot pumice that they have. 😛

I have dry skin no so I really hand do without moisturizers. My skin has this quality to drink just everything. 😀 😀

I will review the coral pack for you. Who knows you might love it as much as I do. 😛

            1. he he…u knw the rates are soo attractive I cant resist….the body whip is for 3 pounds and body butter for 5 pounds 😀

Waiting for the coral pack review

  4. I was thinking of buying the Fab India cleansing milk for a long time.I am definitely going to buy it this week.

  5. Rati…thank you for revealing that you use Figaro…..you have such poker straight healthy hair that I kept guessing what it might be….we all know it now!!!! 😀 …Rati….did you review the body shop strawberry ????

  6. oh so the blossom kochhar almond moisturising lotion works well for your face? when i read your review earlier i had made up my mind to buy it but then i forgot about it. i’m surely buying this. i should write it down somewhere. also planning to buy the almond undereye cream. reason for that is coming up..

you told me that the gulabari thingy has parabens, right? well a couple of weeks ago i had sent you a mail at mirrorobsession, just like that, and had mentioned about this problem i have around my eye area. the skin there has turned very fragile and dry and the whole place burns like hell even when i use the mildest of lotions. well now i know the reason! it’s because of this gulabari thingy!!!! when i went to chandigarh and shimla i didn’t carry it with me coz i packed light and my eye area was completely fine! after coming back i started using it again and now the problem is back again! and i know this for sure coz it’s been happening ever since i started using gulabari! i’ll stop using it and the facial mist at once.

so please tell me, does the fabindia rose toner have parabens? i take it that it doesn’t, coz it’s fabindia? and do you think the almond undereye cream will help me heal this mess faster?

excellent routine by the way. i too moisturise my whole body daily. can’t do without it! i don’t take care of my feet at all, but look at you! hmm…

    1. Rima,

That new gulabari gave me rashes all over the face and that’s when I really looked at the ingredients. i mean atleast gulab jal should be pure. both Fab India and Khadi rose water are without any parabens.

I use almond under eye cream everyday. Forgot to add it in the post. It really helps my under eye area keep moisturized and it has no harmful chemicals. I mean the way I work on computer, my under eye area would have totally gone for a toss had I not been using it. Also I don’t believe in using chemically loaded creams for under eyes. It such a delicate area…I might be wrong here but I am a sucker for natural skin care products.

It’s a must have in my kit. Again, it would take a little time to get absorbed since it’s so hot and all but it will keep your delicate under eye area moisturized.

I have ignored my feet for good long years. One day my friends really screamed at me as to what I was doing to my feet. So now I kind of take care of them. 🙂

      1. thanks ki and rati. i’ll surely get the almond undereye cream now and also this lotion. i would have never thought that even gulab jal can be tampered with. it’s made me quite angry. will use the one from fabindia in future. my face has become red, sore and hot now. 🙁
.-= Rima Kaur´s last blog ..Beneath The Smiles =-.

        1. I know. It really sucks. I want to try Kama’s rose water also but it’s so god damn expensive for a rose water. …

I made my friend buy 2 bottles of Fab India rose water recently. 😛

Take care of your skin and don’t worry it would be fine. 🙂

          1. The Almond Under eye cream from Blossom Kochar asks for it to be removed after 15-20 mins using a damp cotton-wool.
If someone is using it here, do you actually do it or just leave it on?
(For that reason i have stopped using, being the lazy bum i am :S and shifted to Neutrogena Fairness range eye cream which is ok too!)

            1. I don’t remove the cream. you may if you want to. Neutrogena cream didn’t suit me at all. In fact it made my under eye skin dry. 🙁 Good that it’s working for you. 🙂

              1. ah thanks Rati – consolation that! i think i can start using the almond cream now 😉

well, frankly i cant see a great difference from one to another eye cream on me neither is there any adverse effect :p don think i also have any ‘dark’ dark circles – just use it as a precaution as i do eye make up quite a lot… and soon i’d be aged 😉

  7. Great routine Rati…By the way have you ever used Aroma magic foot cream?forgot the name on pack…badly in search of a good foot cream..any suggestions anybody pls…

        1. Shyna – Yes I did and i keep coming back to it … Its Camphor Ice Foot Cream in the trademark green container. Love it!
          – Lush’s Pied the Pepper is amazing (cinnamon and clove oil makes it one of a kind!)
          – TBS – Spa Wisdom Africa range – Honey and Beeswax Hand and Foot cream (seemed tad bit too expensive for daily use but a worthy splurge)
          Actually Vaseline works great too

  8. You know girls….that spray bottle dabur gulabari…burns the skin…..there should be strict warning sent out against using it…….Rati has already done a review on that…..i bought it before you had done the review and you know what, I should have waited for the review…that thing burns my skin through the face pack…..uggggggggggg

    1. Jomol, thankfully the shop keeper knew me so he changed it for some other product. I would have been really upset otherwise. 🙁

I know atleast some action should be taken against the dabur facial mist. It’s reacting on everyone’s skin.. There has to be something really wrong with that product.

      1. if it’s reacting this way to EVERYONE’S skin, i’m not passing it on to my friends. this babe is going down the drain.. sheesh! someone should do a lab test and find out the pathetic-ness that goes into creating that spray!
.-= Rima Kaur´s last blog ..Beneath The Smiles =-.

        1. Ya…even I hated the dabur mist when I tried it 🙁 …I started using it on my feet to freshen up…luckily din react much on my feet though 🙂

  9. Hey Rati, even i have had a bad experience with rose water, not gulabri though but Aromaz rosewater mist…i got rashes all over my face though all the ingredients that they have mentioned are natural like Aqua, rose essence, menthol, etc…seriously doubt the credibility of the manufacturer since i feel they dont reveal the exact ingredients…i use vlcc rosewater toner now, it seems to be ok but i mostly use it as a base for my homemade packs

    1. I agree with you, Shyna. I believe that full ingredients are not mentioned always but there has been rarely any product from Fab India that had a bad reaction on me. Infact I believe Fab India has been quite gentle on most people’s skin.

Try Fab India products. May be they works well for you. 🙂

  10. great routine Rati, thx for sharing, Ive been looking for the coral pack at Fabindia ever since you mentioned it, for some reason its never there when I go… and ya, the Himalaya foot cream is great (thx Ki :), my feet are in much better condition now altho Im not very regular using the cream.. shall try harder now 😀

  11. Cool…well fab india pdts i guess we have to buy from their exclusive stores right?not seen in other shops i believe

    1. They have body was and i think someone was raving about them as well. 😛 I am yet to try both shampoos and body wash. If you do, please let me know how you find them. 🙂

  16. Hey Rati…

Have bought Fab India Rose water as per ur reco…Totally loving it …Me too use Fab India soaps and will definately try Fab India Lavender cleansing lotion , Strawberry body polish & am wondering how do i get my hands on EOS :-/

    Lovely post 🙂

    1. oh wow!! glad you are liking it, Shweta. 🙂 To must get your hands on TBS body polish asap. It’s a wonder product. 😛 They have one in Satsuma fragrance as well. try that also. I personally find strawberry more appealing.

Now idea about EOS. 🙁 Firen mentioned that you can purchase it from Ebay..

      1. you said u were gonna try satsuma too..did u?? I did like the smell of it but still somehow keep going back to the strawberry one only

  17. Hi RATI,
I’m so gonna try the coral glow pack. ……I tried khadi apple face pack 2 weeks ago, I didn’t tlike it much, and started getting rough skin near by chin 😥 , had a slight tingling sensation, and my friend got the khadi shampoo for dandruff, and she didn’t like it. Are any of the khadi products you’ve tried worth a re-buy?
I bought the shahnaz thermal face lift pack and applied with a mask.. around thrice with 3 week gap intervals .. I don’t think it really made a difference at all… please Rati tell me if there’s some other specific way of putting that on!! I’m perplexed :silly:
And also pls suggest a real good under eyecream for dark circles and wrinkles!!!
this is what ive tried .. l’oreal ( the blue tube dun remember the name), garnier wrinkle (red) and the one for dark circles , garnier roll on stick (with caffiene) , .. shahnaz almond ( wipe off one) and biotique…..

    Thankssss , have a nice day 😀 :-*

    1. Hey Puja…I’ve tried the Khadi Pudina cleanser, Khadi Aloe Vera Moisturizer & Khadi Almond face scrub….Love the cleanser and face scrub, the moisturizer is also good but its like any other normal moisturizer…nothing exceptionally good…have done a review on the Khadi Cleanser on IMBB..you can check that out

    2. Hi Puja,

I do like Khadi products but I am not a huge fan. I hve tried their facewash and shampoos, they were good but can’t rave about them.

For undereyes, only one cream works for me- blossom kochhar under eye cream. Check out the products mentioned by HD. I am still waiting for them 2 arrive in stores bt if you can get hold of them, try it. 🙂

    3. Puja – personally i dont know the effect of under-eye creams although i use them regularly. but my friend has similar issues and she swears on shahnaz’s almond under-eye cream AND Amway’s too. and she says the trick is to change the product after each is over – at least within the two – like cheating your eyes so they dont get too used to a product and make it stop working!

  18. Hey Rati where will i get fab india products in chennai… also pl suggest me a good shampoo and conditioner… am planning to get amway G&H Body shampoo s it good

  19. Rati thanks for the link, 🙂
my daily skincare routine had clinique calrifying lotion 2 ,but it was too harsh on my skin. Now am using clinique calrifying lotion 1, it suites me.

Am lazy, so strawberry body wash (TBS) for whole body and face. ofcourse with TBS bathing gloves.
Clinique Clarifying lotion 1 and shea body butter for face , and ponds age miracle day cream(READ LAZY AGAIN …. i use it , coz it has SPF 15)
for hands and legs strawberry body butter (TBS),
hope i will write briefly about other routines also with pics soon 😎
