ELF products are always a hit or miss. Well, they are generally a miss for me. I still try them out, given their inexpensive price range. Today, I am reviewing ELF Studio Precision Liquid Eyeliner. Is this a hit or a miss, let us find out.

Directions To Use:

Holding the applicator like a brush, draw a line along the lash line. Adjust length and thickness as desired.

Packaging:

The eyeliner comes in a very sleek black tube which looks more like a thick felt tip liner pen. It comes in a standard ELF black colored outer carton. The tube is twist-it open one and closes securely making it leakage proof and travel friendly.

My Take on ELF Studio Precision Black Liquid Eyeliner:

When I looked at the packing, it looked more like a felt tip liner and I picked it up because of the same. But when I opened it at home, I found it to be the regular liquid eyeliner.  It comes in a black twist-up tube and the brush handle is as long as the tube itself. The long brush makes it easy to use and I apply it easily on my lash line without smearing it on my lashes (as is the case with me with brushes with smaller handles).

The product is a bit runny and I have to wipe off the excess on the tube due to its texture. The brush is not very soft, it seems more like a flat tip than a brush, but not pokey at all and it made the liner application easier. But it is not very even and you could see the bristles separated a bit (as seen in the pic) which makes drawing very thin lines a bit difficult.

The color is a nice black, but it doesn’t give full dark color on lids in one swipe. It dries up quickly and there is no smudging.  It gives you enough time to correct your mistakes (in case you have messy hands like me) and can be easily removed with a q-tip. You have to layer it up for getting the perfect dark black. After layering, it takes a bit longer to dry. Also, after layering, it gives a bit stretchy feeling on the lash line. The finish is not matte but glossy.

It is not waterproof and comes off easily with your face wash and water. And it is not touch proof as well 😛 I have a habit of touching my eyes every couple of minutes and could see it flaking from inner corner of my eyes just within an hour of application.  Also, once it started flaking from the inner corner of my eyes, it flaked off pretty soon and just after a couple of hours, I was left with the liner on only half of my lash line. :O And as much as I can touch up my lipstick on the go, I definitely do not touch up my eyeliner. And I guess most of us don’t do that, so you have to be careful not to touch your eyes while this liner is on.

Cons of ELF Studio Precision Black Liquid Eyeliner:

• Not waterproof (might not be a pro for some).
• Parabens.
• Very runny texture.
• Brush bristles are separated, making it difficult to draw very thin lines.
• Flakes off.
• Gives stretchy feeling on the lash line when layered.

Would I Repurchase ELF Studio Precision Black Liquid Eyeliner?

No, I mostly prefer waterproof and smudge-proof eye products, so this one is not for me. This one doesn’t smudge, but flakes off which is a definite no-no.
