Lakme Glide On Lip Color – Rose Shimmer Review

I have just started using lipsticks in their full glory. For a very long time, it was just lip pencils/liner and lip balm. It was good enough for college and then work and didn’t cost much too. Also, at that point of time, no one really knew how to style various lip colors.  Brown and rosy pink were the only two “natural” lip colors normal people would wear. Damn, I feel so ancient now, even though this was like 7-8 years ago.

Also, Lakme was the to-go place to hunt for lip colors and kohls.  So, I bought multiple back ups of this pencil when I came here. After 3 years, it still remains my most-picked lip product.

Lakme’s Rose Shimmer Lip Pencil is a warm-toned soft rosy pink with shimmer. The shimmer does not even show up in pictures.

Price:

Rs. 290-340

This can easily be the cheap version of MAC’s Twig and Mehr.  If you compare the colors, they are pretty similar. I wear this under MAC’s Brave all the time too.

It is housed in a normal pencil form which is supposed to be sharpened. The pencil itself is really soft to apply, softer than some lipsticks.  It glides beautifully on the lips and embosses a beautiful color. But being really soft, the tip breaks more than it should. It lasts for about 5-6 hours on me on its own. It feels kind of goopy, not very sticky though. The one gripe I have about it is that the pencil starts to disintegrate where the nib is, it opens and the entire color portion comes out.  It becomes pretty much useless after that because unless you put it in a jar or a pan, you can’t use it. I’m sure Lakme has thought about this in the upcoming ranges. I have never seen this in any of the lip pencils. Also, the wood used to house these pencils is pretty hard and might scratch you if you are using a blunt tip. I did get backups but only for the color.

Summing up:

Pros of Lakme Glide On Lip Color – Rose Shimmer:

• Lovely shade.
• Lovely, creamy texture.
• The pigmentation is awesome.
• A great MLBB shade.
• I use it in place of lipstick a lot.
• Easily available.

Cons of Lakme Glide On Lip Color – Rose Shimmer:

• Kind of pricey.
• The wood comes apart at the tip, which means the quality sucks; it happened with both my pencils.
• The wood used in this pencils is not soft.

I am not sure about the other ranges, but this one can be totally skipped. I still have kept this to find similar shades in other brands though 🙂
