Milani 12 Hr Shadow Eyez 06-Royal Purple

Hello IMBBians!

This is the last color from this range that I own (as of now *fingers crossed*), I have previously reviewed the blue – Aquatic Style & the green – Green Safari. There are 3 more colors in this range – White, Brown and Champagne. This purple one is a tad different than the blue & green colors. There is a subtle yet noticeable difference. But I do love them all!

01 Milani 12 Hr Shadow Eyez 06 Royal Purple

Product Description:

Big and blendable 2-in-1 color rich pencil that can be used as shadow or liner. Creamy smooth, long-lasting, water-resistant, crease-proof and paraben-free formula. The next generation of shadows that you sharpen.Apply the pencil directly to the eyelid, then blend it out with your finger or a brush. After use, always replae the cap so the tip does not dry out. Easily sharpens with Milani’s Duo Sharpener.
How To Apply:

Tip:To extend the wear, apply your foundation or pressed powder on entire eyelid before applying your eye shadow. This eliminates any oils your lids may have which can cause your eye shadow to crease.

My Experience with Milani Shadow Eyes 12hr Pencil – Royal Purple:

Its performance is very true to its claim; goes on very easily, lasts all day or till you decide to take it off. It does not crease on my normal lids, though for oily-skinned girls, I would definitely suggest a primer, or setting this with an eyeshadow. It is very much pigmented but I feel unlike the other 2 pencils I have from this range, this goes on a bit lighter than a swatch on the arm or how the looks of the nib looks.

Milani has decent packaging, nothing fancy about this one, but it helps to have the same color body as that of the pencil, as it makes it easy while finding it, if you have multiple colors from this collection. The biggest downside here is that, when you sharpen the jumbo pencil, you tend to lose some product. The color looks like it would go a bit shimmery but it does not – it is a deep bright royal purple. Blending this eye pencil is harder than the other 2 I have from this range. Since it has more of a matte feel to it, it dries up quicker, so you have to very quick with if you plan on blending it. This color does last all day on the eyelids, but on the water line, it tends to fade after a couple of hours. You would need to set it with a powder, of similar color or translucent to ensure that it stays on longer.
In the swatch below, the left one is a single swipe, the middle one is multiple swipes, and on the right it has been blended out as much as possible. As you can see, there is hardly much difference in the single and multiple swipes color pay off.

On the eyes below, I have used just the Milani pencil & some mascdara & kajal. Compared to the swatches , it does goes on lighter on the eyelid.

Pros of Milani Shadow Eyes 12hr Pencil – Royal Purple:

  • Rich color pay off, the product is very pigmented, one swipe is always enough.
  •  Works just as well on its own, or can be used as a base too.
  • Does not budge from eyelids even after 12+ hours (on normal eyelids).
  •  The color – a deep beautiful royal green.
  • Can be safely used on the water line too.
  •  If set with a powder, stays on all day long.
  •  Eyeshadows adhere to it very well, even pigments (provided, you work immediately after placing the color).
  •  Though it is fairly matte, it is not a flat-matte.

Cons of Milani Shadow Eyes 12hr Pencil – Royal Purple:

By sharpening it, one would lose a lot of product.

  • More of this product is required to get a dark purple effect, which increase the chance of it creasing if not set.
  • Disappears from the waterline after 3 hours or so. Needs to be set if using on waterline.

IMBB Rating:

4/5, because it’s not available easily in India & it is a tad more harder than the supere creamy blue & green from this range.

Do I Recommend Milani Shadow Eyes 12hr Pencil – Royal Purple?

Yes, absolutely! It is the best matte purple eye shadow I have but it is not super flat-matte.

Will I Repurchase Milani Shadow Eyes 12hr Pencil – Royal Purple?

I plan to buy all colors from this range, they are just so beautiful but I would prefer having a more “easily available in India” dupe for this.

Hope you guys liked reading about this and happy Makeuping!
