NYX Matte Lipsticks are highly pigmented, richly formulated and long-wearing. The formula glides on smoothly and stays put in a matte finish. From Pure Red to Nude, Matte Lipsticks are available in a variety of rich shades. Available in 22 shades, if I am not mistaken.

My Experience with NYX Matte Lipstick in Bloody Mary:
Okay, so this is my first NYX lipstick – matte or otherwise. I was looking for a dupe for MAC’s new Retro Matte Lipstick All Fired Up, since that has been out of stock for a long time. Anyway, I figured that this would be the closest dupe for the same and so I went and got it.
Now, the colour is definitely a pink red (but it is certainly not a dupe for All Fired Up). It’s bold and pigmented without being over the top. However, it is very similar to MAC Red lipstick (which I have reviewed earlier). The only difference is that Bloody Mary is a tad pinker, almost unnoticeably so. It brightens up the face and you don’t need too much makeup if you are wearing this lipstick.
The formula is a very creamy one. It’s not glossy or lustrous, but it’s not as matte as, say, Ruby Woo. It is creamy and non-drying, but it is somewhat transferable and can bleed. What I think is absolutely necessary with this one is to apply it with a lip brush and use it with a lip liner.
As far as the packaging is concerned, it’s nice that one gets a peek of the colour through the tube, but the swivel part of the lipstick is quite loose and this goes for all lipsticks in the range, not just my particular lipstick. The lipstick swivels up quite easily and that’s not very good. It feels uncomfortable because I fear that the lipstick will hit the cap and smudge or break.
Overall, this is a pretty good lipstick with a soft, creamy formula. I would say it’s semi-matte, something like MAC’s Satin finish. It lasts well when used with a lip liner. You have to be careful with the application since the colour is quite bold. It fades evenly and does not stain if removed properly.
Pros of NYX Matte Lipstick in Bloody Mary:
- Bright and bold pink-red lipstick.
- Creamy matte, non-drying formula.
- Easy to apply on the lips.
- Very pigmented.
- Matte texture that will work for dry lips, but with adequate balm and exfoliation.
- Partially see-through tube.
- No fragrance.
Cons of NYX Matte Lipstick in Bloody Mary:
- Can bleed and/or transfer if not applied with a lip brush and lip liner.
- Somewhat flimsy packaging.
My Verdict on NYX Matte Lipstick in Bloody Mary:
I like the colour and the formula of these lipsticks. For the price, I think these are pretty good, pigmented lipsticks with a nice creamy formula.
