Stiefel Physiogel AI Lotion Review

By Nisha Negi

Hello!

I am always terrified to use anything new on my face because my skin breaks out very easily. It would be hard to believe if I say that I have never used any fancy moisturiser on my face till date. I’d stick to Johnson and Johnson Baby Cream as it is made for baby skin and never broke me out,  but this year did not start pretty well and my skin started reacting to ‘I don’t know what’ (couldn’t figure out yet). It got itchy, flaky and very dry. So, my dermatologist recommended me a life changing moisturiser named Stiefel Physiogel AI Lotion. Let’s get started with the details now.

Stiefel Physiogel AI Lotion Review

Product Description:
Physiogel™ AI Lotion contains PEA, a physiological complex with antioxidant properties that can protect the skin from cell-damaging free radicals. Free radicals are associated with common skin problems like redness, dryness and also plays a part in the skin’s aging process. It has unique DMS® (Derma Membrane Structure) for regeneration of the skin protective barrier. They help retain skin moisture and prevent skin dryness.

Directions of Use:
Suitable for face and body. Apply Physiogel™ AI Cream/Lotion twice daily (or as often as needed), and massage gently into skin. If skin is broken, cover Physiogel™ AI Cream/Lotion with a dressing of choice.

Physiogel™ AI Cream/Lotion is available exclusively in clinics and hospital pharmacies.

Price:
INR 340 for 100ml. I got it from a pharmacy in Bangalore.

My Experience with Stiefel Physiogel AI Lotion:

Packaging:
The packaging is nothing fancy and the lotion comes in a white coloured plastic bottle.

Texture:
As it is a lotion, it has watery consistency, but is denser than water.

Odour:
It says it is fragrance free, but it has a slight hint of coconut. You would notice it only if you have a sensitive nose. I read the ingredients and I am assuming it is because of the capric triglyceride, as it is isolated from fractionated coconut oil. I know this because I am a chemistry honours graduate. 😛

Efficacy:
When applied to face, it spreads easily because of its watery consistency. It doesn’t feel heavy at all. It moisturises the skin very well. I have normal skin and it doesn’t make it oily at all. I have also used it when my skin was very dry because of some allergy and it worked on it as well. It has glycerine which is very well known for its moisturising properties. Also, it has ceramide which is the main component of the epidermis layer of human skin. Thumps up!

It can be used during day time and also as a night cream. It does make my skin feel soft and moisturised after the application. I have also felt that it has restored the natural moisture of my face as I have been using it for few months now and I can feel the difference. It does take few seconds to get absorbed into the skin, but only if taken in excess. Hence, a little is enough. The only factor it lacks is the sun protection factor. It doesn’t have any SPF and hence, if you apply it during day, make sure that you use it underneath makeup that has SPF (BB cream, foundation with SPF or tinted sunscreen).

I use it as a night cream because of the fact that it has natural lipids which surely make my skin feel softer the next morning. If I use it during day time while going out, I use it underneath my make up (with SPF) for a moisturised base.

PS: This is quite random, but I had acne few weeks back. I cleansed my face and put this lotion on. I don’t know how it did it, but it calmed the acne down. 🙂

Pros of Stiefel Physiogel AI Lotion:

• Says what it does – moisturise.
• Watery consistency that doesn’t feel heavy on the face.
• A little is enough, hence economical.
• Affordable.
• Can be easily worn under makeup.
• Suitable for dry and normal skin both.

Cons of Stiefel Physiogel AI Lotion:

• No fancy packaging.
• No SPF.
• I assume it to be not suitable for oily skin after seeing the effect on normal to dry skin.

Would I Repurchase Stiefel Physiogel AI Lotion?
Yes, it is a moisturiser and a very good one too. I can apply it and roam around my house. I can put it underneath my makeup and go out. It has surely made my skin softer and more moisturised in the past two months.

Would I Recommend Stiefel Physiogel AI Lotion?
Surely, if you have dry to normal skin and are looking for a good moisturiser. But, if you have oily skin, you can totally skip this.

Till my next review.
Stay happy. Stay beautiful.
