Continuing with the reviews on my Makeup Geek eyeshadow collection – this review will be on the shade “Moon Dust.”

My Experience with Makeup Geek Moondust Eyeshadow:
Packaging: This eyeshadow comes in a pan, which you have to pop into a magnetic palette. I do like the flexibility this provides for customizing a palette based on your needs, but this also means you have to shell out extra to buy the Z palette on top of buying the eyeshadow.
Shade and Finish: “Moon Dust” is described as a metallic taupe color. The metallic finish is quite smooth, soft and subtle and has no chunky, loose shimmer particles. I find this shade to have just a hint of cool tone to it. I find this shade to be quite dull looking on the eyes. It doesn’t pop much despite the metallic finish, looks quite flat.
Texture/Pigmentation/Blendability: This eyeshadow is smooth to the touch. The pigmentation is okay, but I find I need to apply about two layers for the color to stand out against the skin. It does sheer out considerably while blending and I do need to build it up in layers to achieve an opaque color.
Staying Power: It wears without creasing or fading for 6-7 hours with a primer.
Overall, I wasn’t quite as impressed with this shade as I have been with my other makeup shadows, so I would give this a pass.
In the EOTD below, I have used “Moon Dust” all over the lid as a simple one-shadow look.
Pros of Makeup Geek Moondust Eyeshadow:
- Affordable.
- Easy to customize a palette exactly to your liking with these Makeup Geek shadows.
- Smooth, buttery feel.
- No fall out.
- Good staying power.
Cons of Makeup Geek Moondust Eyeshadow:
- This shade does tend to sheer out while blending and needs a couple of layers to achieve opacity.
- Shade looks quite flat despite the metallic finish.
- I do not find this to be a flattering shade, especially for my skin tone.
