So recently, I requested a relative of mine in the USA to send me some makeup items. In that haul, I had also picked up a few Makeup Geek eyeshadows (just to clarify, I paid for everything including the shipping for which my relative was charged). I picked up a foiled eyeshadow and some pressed eyeshadows from Makeup Geek. I do have another package coming soon, so more reviews in the offing 😛 The shade that I am going to talk about today is named “Nautica.”
$6 (excluding shipping charges)
My Take on Makeup Geek Nautica Pressed Eyeshadow:
The texture of the pressed eyeshadow is incredibly smooth. It is soft and buttery which is just perfect. I love the texture of this particular shade a lot. It is better than the foiled eyeshadows.
Nautica is highly pigmented and is a true metallic royal blue shade. The colour is gorgeous and you really just need a little on the brush.
I have wanted the perfect blue eyeshadow since a long time and when I saw this, I knew I had to get it. The colour, pigmentation and texture are incredibly great. This eyeshadow is pretty long wearing! It stayed on my oily eyelids without a primer for about 7 hours. It did fade away post 6 hours but did not go away completely. Also, the eyeshadow has a metallic finish to it which looks amazing.
This shade blends out perfectly, but is a little bit chalky. It is not as chalky as ELF eyeshadows or some of the BH Cosmetic ones, but it is surely chalky. A lot of YouTubers compare it to MAC eyeshadows, but I do think it needs a little more work to reach there. But whatever the case, I like how pressed the shadows are.
I have tried MUG`s foiled eyeshadow and did not like it too much. I must say that this particular shade is stunning and worth the price. I have to add that buying the palette, paying for the shipping and everything, it becomes quite expensive overall. I had to buy an empty palette too because I never usually buy eyeshadow pans. So, for people in India, it is pretty expensive and I would not invest so much to buy just one eyeshadow pan. It is the expense that ticks me off about the product, otherwise I am in love with this colour.
Pros of Makeup Geek Nautica Pressed Eyeshadow:
- Highly pigmented.
- Smooth and soft texture.
- Blends well.
- Metallic finish.
- Long-wearing shadow.
- Great color.
Cons of Makeup Geek Nautica Pressed Eyeshadow:
- A little chalky.
I will not repurchase this particular shade because I like trying out different eyeshadows plus it gets pretty expensive for one eyeshadow pan with the shipping, so I don’t think I will purchase any more eyeshadows from MUG.
