Avene Cold Cream Nourishing Body Lotion Review

By Bella V.

Hello beautiful ladies,

The product I am reviewing today is the cold cream body lotion by Avene. Avene is a French pharmacy brand owned by Pierre Fabre.  The Avene Cold Cream is made with thermal spring water from its own line, which is procured from Avene, located in the south of France. Thermal spring water has many benefits, some of which are that it is emolliating, calming and refreshing. Spring water is a dermatologist favorite which is suggested especially for sensitive skin.

Packaging:

The bottle I got is a 400 ml bottle with a pump that is apt for daily use. It is also available in 40 and 100 ml tubes. The packaging is very clean, easy to use and hygienic. The bottle with a pump comes with a stopper which you can attach to the neck of the pump. That comes in handy while travelling.

Price:

It is €13.90 for a 400 ml container. The 100 ml tube is for €4.90. The price may vary depending on where you buy it from. Since it is a pharmacy brand, it has no fixed price in France.

My Experience with Avene Cold Cream Nourishing Body Lotion:

The Avene Cold Cream is a thick, white cream that spreads easily and does not feel greasy on the skin. It hydrates and nourishes skin. The product has almost no fragrance; only a very light creamy smell typical of a cream. Most pharmacy products are non scented. I like that this lotion has no smell. It gives it a clean feeling. Although I love perfumes, I find it a little overwhelming to use body lotions that are scented. I use perfumes on an everyday basis, so it can be a little suffocating for me to smell my perfume and body lotion at the same time. However, I do enjoy using scented hand creams. (Weird logic, I know).

My skin is normal almost on everywhere except knee caps and my feet, which are dry. I apply it after having a bath, for immediate hydration every day or at night, just before sleeping. On waking up, I find my skin super soft and hydrated. The rich, smooth texture easily penetrates into the skin to impart deep hydration. I also use this product after waxing or shaving my skin and I find that it calms my skin and prevents irritation and redness, from lingering.

Avene Cold Cream Nourishing Body Lotion

I find this product very satisfying due to the fact that it lives up to its claims. So, for me, this is a great body lotion.
A lot of products intended for dry skin end up being really greasy and sticky due to the large number of oils and waxes used in the formulation. Avene Cold Cream however isn’t sticky or greasy. The label says it’s suitable for dry to very dry skin; but, I beg to differ. I have normal skin and I use this all over my body every day. Never has my skin become oily or sticky. It could be because of the cold weather, but, I still feel that this product is suitable for anybody with normal to dry skin. The product is specially formulated for people with sensitive skin, so you can be sure that you won’t have rashes or any side effects post usage, I didn’t!

Pros of Avene Cold Cream Nourishing Body Lotion:

  • Non greasy.
  • Cost effective.
  • Benefits of thermal spring water.
  • Suitable for sensitive skin.

Cons of Avene Cold Cream Nourishing Body Lotion:

  • Not suitable for oily skin.

Would I Repurchase Avene Cold Cream Nourishing Body Lotion?

Yes, most definitely. After buying it for myself, I bought the product for my parents and they both love it. My mom and dad, both, use it every day. Unlike me, they live in a hot country and still find it suitable for their skin.

  1. Bella, loved reading the review. Though it’s not suitable for oily skin, I think for ppl like us who live in dry climates would love it too 🙂
