Ola Bonitas Chicas!
We girls constantly look out for ways and means of hair removal. There are quite few options available from waxing to depilatory creams to razors to shavers and epilators. Each has its own pros and cons and depending on the need of the hour, we chose the best available option. Though, I prefer waxing anytime over other means, there are times of unforeseen circumstances when my visit to the parlour is not possible. For those times, I keep a backup of depilatory creams handy. But, not any more! Yes, you read it right! Not that I have got a laser treatment done or opened a salon in my house, but I have found a wonder machine. Let me take you through its review.
Before I start, a special thanks to Rati and other IMBB Team members for buying this product for me. Jomol deserves a special mention because she kept a track of the number of reviews that I had sent and asked me why was I not sending in details for the sponsored product. With 700 writers writing for the blog, how do you manage to keep a track of all. Phewww! You are a super woman, Jomol. The hard work and dedication of the entire IMBB team is commendable. It is indeed an honour and proud privilege to be associated with IMBB. Ok, moving on to the review now…

My Experience with Braun Silk Epil 7 SkinSpa 7951 Epilator:
Okay, if I have to describe it in one line I would shout out loud and say, “Hey girls, go run and get it!” and that’s how amazing this small mini home spa kit is!
I will list out, in short, what is an epilator. It is an electronic gadget which is used to remove the body hair. The hair gets trapped in the tweezers and is pulled out from the shaft. It is the first time I was using an epilator, and to be frank, I was a bit scared when I switched it on because it made a ‘zrrrrrr’ sound. After conjuring some strength, I finally put it on my legs. The initial stint was a bit scary not because of the machine, but because of my apprehensions and anxiety. Once I calmed down, I found this epilator to be my most prized possession. I will advise you all to read the instruction manual clearly before you start using it because there are a lot of attachments. The instructions are written in more than 10 languages in the booklet.
To come to the product now, it is a white coloured handy machine with an on/off circular button and two speed levels – Level 1 and Level 2. There is also a light which lits white when the gadget is in work mode in order to help locate the hair. There is also a socket at the bottom where the charger can be plugged in. You should never use the gadget while it is getting charged for safety reasons. During charging, the light underneath the ‘+-‘ sign keeps blinking in green colour. When it is fully charged the green light stops blinking. Also, when the battery is about to discharge, this light would turn yellow and red. One round of fully charged epilator is enough for my legs and hands both, which is decent enough.
Coming to the attachments, there are three of these namely:
• Epilator Head
This is by far the best of the lot and comes with a sensitive skin attachment with small massage rollers. It actually removes hair as short as 0.5 mm which is like a grain of a sand. I am not exaggerating any fact here. You have to use it to believe it. The epilator has to be kept at an angle of 90 degrees and moved in the opposite direction of the hair. Yes, you would experience a bit of a pain, but nothing which is unbearable. In fact, with continuous usage the pain would considerably subside. The first time it would pain (read hurt) more, but when you get a hang of it, the epilation process would be a cakewalk.
The massage rollers also help in reducing the pain. There are two separate attachments for the epilator head, the first one is for facial hair and the other one is for the sensitive areas which reduce the surface area. However, I feel that without the massage rollers, it pained more. So, I used the actual epilator head on the face also without changing the cap. It didn’t pain much, just what you would get when you get threading done.
• Exfoliating Brush
It is a round brush with plastic bristles. The bristles are not hard. In fact, they provide 4 times more exfoliation as compared to the manual task. The brush lathers up my body wash nicely in the bath tub. That is the beauty of this epilator because it can be used both wet and dry. It is advisable to exfoliate with this brush one or two days prior to epilation. Some people complain of ingrown hair with the use of epilators, but with this new feature, I am sure no one would complain as I personally have used it and found not even a single ingrown hair on my body. A note of caution here : this brush is not designed for usage on the face, so don’t even try!
• Shaver cum Trimmer
If your hair is a bit longer, you can trim it to 5mm and then shave off. This two in one shaver cum trimmer is, again, a unique concept. There was no pain when I trimmed and shaved my hair. I must share that it is the first time in my life I have used a shaver on my body as I felt it would make my hair coarse, hence refrained from using it. But, I wanted the review to be as real as possible, so I went ahead with shaving my legs and after 4 days when I could see the teeny-meeny hair, I used the epilator. One thing I noticed was that the pain was lesser when I had shorter hair.
One thing I would like to add here is that it is advisable to epilate one day prior to the function or the outing because some people may get red bumps on the skin which is due to the fact that the hair is being pulled out of the root. It is just a caution, I didn’t experience anything of this sort, but my sister who has been using the same epilator for two years faces this issue.

4.95 out of 5
All in all, this epilator is true to its name as it a mini spa at home. It exfoliates and epilates, shaves and trims. What else could one ask for from a cute white and purple gadget! I would strongly recommend it to one all. This is a one time investment and you will reap benefits throughout.
