Hi,

I am a great fan of your blog. I follow your every review. I need your suggestion. Actually, I want to straighten/rebond my hair, so I wanted to know whether I can do it at home by myself? By doing it at home, can I get the same type of effect or should I go to a salon? Please help!

  1. Hi Prachi,

You can only get temporary results at home using a straightener and hair spray. For a more permanent effect, you have to get it professionally done. Also, I don’t think rebonding can be done at home.

    1. completely agree with Jomol on this…you can’t do that at home but you could always use flat irons *haan ji* …even if you try doing at home I am skeptical about the safety *scared*

  2. uh I strongly recommend not going for rebonding be it at home or at the salon. No matter what they promise you will experience alot of hair fall and premature greying!

    1. Lisha….premature greying, that’s scary…….I always wanted to go for rebonding, chickened out every time…..premature greying, I don’t want *nababana* *nababana* *nababana* *nababana*

      1. No Jomo, it’s nothing like that as such, if you go for a reputable salon, you will not face any problem as such, I have got rebonding done last Feb and I don’t face any premature greying or even abnormal hair fall, I think it’s perfectly fine if you go for a reputable salon.

    1. Sone, oh, I didn’t know that, but you know, with all those harsh chemicals, its scary, what if some mixing goes wrong *scared* *scared* *scared* *scared*

  3. One of our blog writers, Saloni Shah is a pro at doing rebonding at home…she has written an article also on same..do check it out! My advise would be to get it done from salon for the first time…

    1. Anuradha…..oh yeah, now I remember, she had done a detailed post….but I am very scared, I am very bad at following instructions *scared*

      1. same here Jomol….am too scared to even try rebonding….though my sister has got it done thrice and all the three times it was excellent, texture-wise, no hairfall….still…i also chicken out like u.. *hifive*

  4. don’t do rebonding at home…. *nababana*
can make ur hair even worse !!
go get ur rebonding done at the professional salon…
Always have this procedure done by someone with experience….
    better go for smoothning 😀

  5. You definitely can do rebonding at home with various kits now available from great hair care brands, do a lil bit of research and go for it if you want to get it done at home.

  6. Personal experience: I would suggest not to go for rebonding/straightening/smoothening. They all involve harsh chemicals. I have extremely curly and frizzy hair. So, I had gone for a lot of consultations at salons like Javed Habib’s, VLCC, Naturals etc. All of them suggested to go for herbal hair treatments or spas which are much safer and with time smooth out the hair.
I would suggest you to get a consultation at a good reputed salon and then decide on what you want to do for your hair…

  7. Heyyy i myself did a post of home rebonding *happy dance* *happy dance* but i would suggest you not to do it yourself if you getting it done for the first time.. *haan ji* *haan ji* and if the chemical goes in the scalp it causes bad hair fall… only after a lot of practise i can do it properly *haan ji* *haan ji*
