Hello all you beautiful IMBBians!!!
The weekend’s finally here and I am sure all the tough working ladies must have heaved a sigh of relief! Saturday is a bliss, indeed. The awesome weather up here in North India perks up the weekend mood even more. Yep! Finally after long, dry and scorching days of summer, the monsoons have finally arrived, with thunders.
Coming to the review, if you all remember, I had mentioned a mini haul in my last post. Well, the couriers arrived two days back, and today I am going to review one of the products out of the haul. It’s a new launch, the Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal – Just Teal 004. I got three shades, Just Blue, Just Black and Just Teal, that I am going to review for you guys today. So, here we go.
The Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal offers the quantity of 1.2 gms, at a price of Rs. 650/-. Very, very pricey. In fact, I think that Lakme and Colorbar have now joined the band wagon of those brands, on which we actually have to save up and splurge. At least Lakme has some affordable options, where as in case of Colorbar, you have to shell out more than your average share of hard earned bucks.
It comes in the normal cardboard box packaging of Colorbar, with a small rectangular colored portion at the bottom, which identifies the shade of the kajal, so, pretty convenient, and good for travel purposes when you do not want your eye pencil to get spoiled due to accidental breakage of the cap.
Inside the packaging, you get a small leaf of instructions, which tells you how you can create different looks using this eye pencil, nothing which the makeup queens of IMBB can’t tell you. 😀 The kajal inside is dual ended. On one end is the kajal, and smudger on the other end. The smudger, thankfully, is a foam one, which looks quite sturdy, and can be cleaned easily too, with a few wipes of makeup remover. The caps on both ends are secure.
My take on Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal in Just Teal 004:
My decision to splurge here was purely after seeing the beautiful “Just Blue” shade. Honestly, I just fell for it, and ordered it along with two other shades without a delay. The shade just teal, is a true blue teal, beautiful, rich, gorgeous and sea deep. That’s the kind of shade it is and you can create different looks with this one to give beautiful hue of color to your eyes.
The texture is super creamy and the kajal just glides on eyes, without any tugging or pulling. Although you need a few dark strokes to increase the intensity of the color. It is safe for the waterline too, given that it is a kajal, and after wearing it for the whole day, I had absolutely no irritation whatsoever. However, if you want to blend it like a shadow, I suggest that you do absolutely quick and rough strokes, and blend it quickly, as it really sets after a minute, and will not budge, which is great if you want to use it as a kajal and eyeliner, but not so great if you want to smudge. You have to be really quick here. The in-built smudger does a decent job.
It is smudge proof and water proof, but not fade proof. It claims to stay intact for 12 hours, but, I beg to differ here. It stays intact for around 5 hours, and fades to give a teal hue to your eyes. That hue, however, stays for a long time till you remove it. It can survive up to 10 hours, with one touch up after 5 hours of wear. However, I think that this might be the case with this particular shade as it is a comparatively lighter shade, than just blue and just black. The darker shades will stay on for a longer time I think, but shall confirm it only when I have tested the black one for sure, for the review purpose.
I use my Neutrogena Oil Free makeup remover to remove this one, and trust me, it took two cotton balls of the remover to get rid of the kajal completely. Even after that a faint teal hue was there. But then, if you want your kajal to be long lasting, smudge proof and water proof, you have to compromise on this point.
The only problem I have with this kajal, is the same that I have faced with all Colorbar eye pencils. Somehow, the best sharpener for these is always Colorbar. Faces and Lakme also do a decent job, but the product gets wasted and the tip is also not that fine.
Pros of Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal in Just Teal 004:
• Rich and dark teal shade. The pictures do not do justice in capturing it.
• Very creamy in texture, no tugs and pulls.
• Smudge proof and water proof.
• In built smudger does a good enough job.
• Long lasting, though not 12 hours.
• Safe for waterline, no irritation.
• Travel friendly packaging.
• Easily available.
Cons of Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal in Just Teal 004:
• Sharpening leads to wastage, can be best sharpened with Colorbar sharpener.
• You have to be really quick with blending, as once set the kajal does not budge.
• Very, very pricey (650???) We get Faces for just 349/-??
IMBB Rating and Recommendation: I rate Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal – Just Teal 004 , 4.2/5. Really, in spite of the price, I cannot deduct more. The intensity of the beautiful teal, texture, staying power, everything is too good.
I may repurchase, but this is going to last a long time, so, not sure. But, I do recommend. These may be pricey, but go get yourself a shade or two.
Stay tuned for the next review. Love you all. 😀 😀
