Diana of London Pure Addiction Lipstick in Essential Pink Review

After being bowled over by orange lipsticks from Diana of London, I wanted to try a few of their pink lipsticks. So, I picked up this lipstick by just looking at how gorgeous it looked in the tube. I keep doing this kind of impulsive buying a lot of times, and end up regretting about not swatching the product and trying it on my lips before because a few shades don’t exactly come out as how they look in the tube. So today, I will be reviewing one such shade that looks pink in the tube, but comes out totally different on the lips – Diana Of London Pure Addiction Lipstick in the shade “Essential Pink.”

My Experience with Diana of London Pure Addiction Lipstick in Essential Pink:

Starting with the packaging, this lipstick comes in a sturdy silver tube with a lovely translucent maroon cap, which makes it look a little different from the other lipsticks, but in case you have more than one lipstick from this range, then it is difficult to find the shade you are looking for in your makeup stash as all of them come with a maroon cap.

The shade name and number is mentioned on the bottom sticker of the lipstick and the sticker is colour coded according to the shade of the lipstick making it easy to find in case you store the lipsticks upside down. The cap closes snugly making it travel friendly. I am in love with the cute and stylish packaging of this lipstick.

Essential Pink is a bright blue-based bubblegum pink with absolutely no shimmer or sheen. It comes out as a slight neon shade of pink on lips with purple undertones. The lipstick looks like a bright coral pink lip color in the tube, but comes out as a blue-based pink on the lips. Though it is a bright lip color, it certainly doesn’t brighten up my face. The color looks slightly pale on me, and I don’t see myself wearing this cool pastel much. This shade will suit lighter complexioned beauties well.

This lipstick has a smooth, creamy texture to it and glides on the lips with utmost ease. No lip balm is required underneath the lipstick, but a little exfoliation ensures that the lipstick looks better on the lips. It is a creamy lipstick and is quite moisturizing- and doesn’t dry out the lips. Lips do not feel parched when you have this lip colour on.

It is amazingly pigmented, one swipe is all you need to cover up all the pigmentation of the lips. You need not layer on the lipstick for the color to show. It feels light on the lips as though you have nothing applied on your lips. The color does not bleed but does tend to transfer minimally.

This pink lip colour lasts for a good 5-6 hours. It doesn’t fade or get patchy. Even after 5-6 hours of wear, it doesn’t dry the lips or settle into the fine lines of the lips, but it keeps the lips soft and moisturized. The color fades away gradually and evenly leaving a soft stain behind.

The best part of this lip color is the stain that it leaves behind. It stains the lips within ten minutes. So if you wipe the lipstick off your lips, you will find a lovely rosey pink stain left behind. I love the stain more than the lipstick color. The stain stays on the lips for almost the whole day and you need a makeup remover and a lot of effort to get the stain off your lips.  It has a faint vanilla smell to it, but the smell vanishes after a minute or so after the application.

Overall, Diana Of London Pure Addiction Lipstick in the shade Essential Pink is a bright blue-based pink lipstick with purple undertones that will work well for light complexioned beauties. The texture, pigmentation and staying power is amazing, but the highlight point has to be the lovely rosey pink stain that it leaves behind. If you are a pink lipstick lover, then you can surely get this shade.
