My Experience with Dove Refresh+Care Detox and Purify Dry Shampoo:

Packaging: Dove Refresh+Care Detox and Purify Dry Shampoo comes in a white coloured, sturdy bottle with some bright green designs over it. The bottle looks like an air freshener. It is big yet lightweight and comes with a spray nozzle. The bottle is very easy to use. Dove instructs us to shake the bottle before using the shampoo. Don’t forget to do this, because the shampoo will deposit a layer of white powdery dust on your hair and it is difficult to remove them.

Consistency and Feel on the Hair: The spray, when used correctly, ejects water like content which is very cooling on the scalp. 7-8 sprays are required for the shampoo to absorb the oil from your scalp. However, the quantity required for one use is very high. Also, you have to massage the shampoo into your hair properly to notice significant results.

Results: One more thing which I like about this dry shampoo is, it provides a fresh burst of fragrance to your greasy hair. It has a pleasant fruity scent, which stays all day long. The dry shampoo imparts an instant freshness to my hair which hardly stays for a day. It makes my hair greasy again in the next morning. So, the results are temporary.

The dry shampoo gives a little lift to the roots. But, it makes my hair look artificial. It does not give a bouncy volume but, it gives a stiff volume which makes my hair even worse. Also, the dry shampoo deposits a very dusty powder which stays on my scalp throughout the day. When I touch my hair, I can feel that powdery stuff on my fingers. It also makes the roots look very thick and stiff. However, I can only feel the dusty powder when I touch it, but it doesn’t show up on my hair strands. What I did not like about this dry shampoo is, the volume which it provides looks artificial. Also, the thick powdery stuff causes a good build-up on the scalp which can result in a lot of hair fall during summers. So, it was a mixed bag for me again. I wouldn’t mind using it when I am in a hurry but would prefer to wash my hair if I have time. Overall, this dry shampoo works well for me. I wish it hadn’t left that powdery residue on my scalp.

Pros of Dove Refresh+Care Detox and Purify Dry Shampoo:

  • Handy and decent looking packaging.
  • Budget-friendly.
  • Easy to use.
  • The dry shampoo absorbs all the greasiness and oil from the scalp.
  • It gives my hair a good volume.
  • Makes my hair smell fresh .
  • Does not leave a white cast.

Cons of Dove Refresh+Care Detox and Purify Dry Shampoo:

  • The volume which it provides looks a bit fake.
  • It leaves a powdery feel on the scalp.
  • If used without shaking, the shampoo will leave a layer of white powder on the scalp.
  • Good alternatives are available.

Will I repurchase/recommend Dove Refresh+Care Detox and Purify Dry Shampoo?
No, I wouldn’t really recommend this, if you have limp and frizzy hair. Also, if you have undergone a lot of chemical treatments and your hair has turned out to be frizzy and damaged then, avoid this.

Conclusion:
The cheapest alternative to a dry shampoo is baby powder. It does a wonderful job of absorbing the oil in seconds, but at the same time, leaves a few white particles on the scalp. Use batiste dry shampoo as it works well for every hair type!
