Today I will review an Elf lippie. I got two of these liquid lipsticks. The other one is called ‘Cherry Tart’. Let’s review ‘Ruby slipper’!
Price: 2 $ I guess.
My experience on e.l.f. Ruby Slipper Essential Luscious Liquid Lipstick:
Packaging: Elf liquid lipstick comes in a cardboard and plastic outer packaging. The front is clear so show the product. The back displays all relevant information related to the product such as ingredients list, product description etc. The actual liquid lippie is packed inside a long and sleek cylindrical tube. On one side is the liquid lipstick and the other side has twisting mechanism. The pack says you have to twist it 10-12 times. I did so and the liquid lipstick appeared at the sponge tip easily. When you twist it, it makes a sound. The only drawback is, you have to twist it once and see if the product dispensed is adequate because if you twist twice or thrice, more product is dispensed. Since the packaging is very sleek, it is ideal for travels.
Color/Pigmentation: ‘Ruby Slipper’ [Such a cute name] is a red color with some pink hints to it. It also has a golden sheen to it, which looks like a very Indian shade. I was kind of taken aback to see that it is very sheer and you have to build it up for the color to appear prominently. I thought liquid lipsticks were like lipsticks-pigmented and in liquid form. But these need three coats for the actual color to show. It is just another lip gloss I feel, although the color is gorgeous and since it is super cheap, I don’t mind it. It gives your lips the same sheen as a lip gloss would.
Texture: The texture is exactly like a gloss. It’s smooth and creamy and a bit sticky. I don’t know why they call this one as a liquid lipstick when it is nothing more than a lip gloss. It moisturizes the lips and hydrates them a little too. When the gloss (I won’t call it a liquid lipstick!) fades, it becomes stickier and it stays until you remove it off. The application is very easy and I enjoy applying this gloss with its slant sponge applicator.
Staying power: This gloss stays on your lips for about 4 hours with fading. The color disappears in less than 2 hours. It just feels like you have applied a tinted lip gloss afterwards. It transfers very easily. It also fades with meals and talking.
Smell/Taste: Here’s the best part about this gloss. It smells like mint candy. I love the refreshing fragrance. It’s so yummy and delicious! I absolutely love it! It doesn’t last long though! And when you apply it, it gives a cooling sensation similar to when you eat a mint candy! It’s amazing and I keep re-applying it for that cool feeling. It lasts for about 2 minutes only. It also tastes like mint candy! ( For all those who don’t like mint, this one will disappoint you guys in this department! As for me, I love it! )
