Hope you all are having a great time! With the winters slightly sweeping away and warm sun shining, this is the perfect weather for day outings and soaking in the sun. I am in love with this season. Recently I saw Rati’s Valentine’s Day look and was totally blown away by it. Just love the way she carries everything and her flawless makeup is worth mentioning. I secretly wish of doing makeup like her some day!

You can call me a novice when it comes to various techniques of highlighting and face contouring. I am just beginning my journey of highlighting, and for this purpose I picked up this Shimmering Facial Whip from e.l.f. in the shade Spotlight. Read more to know how this product fares.

Product Description:
Our Shimmering Facial Whip is a multipurpose, on-the-go whipped highlighter packed with Vitamin E to instantly brighten and soothe skin with no greasy after-feel. Ideal for using on your cheeks, lips, eyelids or anywhere you would like a radiant pop of shimmering color.

How to Use:
Squeeze a pearl-sized amount onto finger and blend into cheeks, eyes, or lips.

My Experience with e.l.f. Spotlight Shimmering Facial Whip:

What keeps bringing me back to ELF is the quality they offer at such an affordable price. This Shimmering Whip comes in a transparent tube packaging with a twistable cap. It’s cute, light and easy to be carried around. I bought this whip 2 months back and it was lying in my dresser since then. Recently when I picked it up for using, I found some bubbles being formed in tube. However on dispensing the highlighter, there are no bubbles. It seems really strange!

The shade is pearly silver with a lot of fine shimmer in it. It seems opaque when dispensed, but blends to a soft, silvery shine. The texture is cream-like, neither too thick nor too runny. It is easy to blend using your fingers. However, it is a bit sticky to touch which may bother some people; but after blending, the stickiness vanishes. The formula is lightweight but not like an actually whip.

What I don’t like about this shimmery whip is its weird, overpowering fragrance; it smells like some low quality product. The smell lingers on for quite some time. I have used this highlighter on my cheekbones and bridge of the nose till now and it looks decently well. This pearly shade looks beautiful during night parties but may look a little over-the-top during day time if not blended properly.

The staying power is average. It stays on for 4-5 hours if you are not fidgeting it with your fingers. It slightly fades away to only shimmer after 4-5 hours which can be easily removed using plain water or a facial wipe.

Verdict:
If you are a highlighting beginner, then go ahead and buy this product. It is good for occasional highlighting and to brighten up your face. But if you are a pro in various makeup techniques, then you can give this one a pass.
