ELF Glitter Eyeshadow in Cowgirl Review

Hey there!

I am a DU student and trust me, even coloured eyeliner can seem like a bit too much occasionally.  So, I am always on the lookout for some everyday looks that accentuate features, but don’t quite throw you into nightclub realm. My all-time favourite for the same, are neutral eye looks. They look so incredibly polished without being over the top, but while I love neutral eyes, somehow I never like them without some snazz, so to speak. The perfect way to jazz up an everyday neutral eye is to use a glittered element in the look, which is what I purchased Cowgirl for. And boy! It works brilliantly!

Packaging:

This pressed powder eyeshadow comes in a little compact type package, with a lid that feels sturdy enough, but somehow, I am not sure if it will hold up once it’s dropped. Due to this flaw, I feel frightened every time I open this cute little product, but nevertheless, I think it might just me being melodramatic, it seems sturdy enough to my friends. It is travel safe as the lid snaps shut with a satisfying snap.

Ingredients:

Talc, Mica, Mineral Oil, Petolatum, Zinc Sterate, Kaolin, Methylparaben, Propylparaben. May Contain: Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxide (CI 77499), Yellow No. 5 Aluminum Lake (CI 19140:1), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Red No. 7 Calcium Lake (CI 15850:0), Blue No. 1 Aluminum Lake (CI 42090:2).

My Take on ELF Glitter Eyeshadow in Cowgirl:

It’s a very pretty nude brown (for my skin tone) that is glittery. I sometimes use it as a highlighter just below my brow bone and it accentuates my strong brows without looking over the top. It lasts for a decent 3-4 hours without primer, but swatched over a primer, its longevity improves dramatically; it then proceeds to stay for about 7 hours (the longest time I have tested it).

It suffers from the lack of one stroke opacity, which I quite frankly like in a product because then it becomes easy to touch up, but nevertheless, the pigmentation can be built easily enough. It suffers from the issue of being a tad too powdery and finely milled which leads to a tiny fallout problem.

Another reason I love this shadow is that while being a glitter eyeshadow, it doesn’t have that many. It’s probably a product flaw but nonetheless it works brilliantly for me. The glitter that does exist is a little too coarse for my liking, but it is a part of the Essentials line in ELF, so I am not too broken up about it.

Even if this product comes under the Essential range, it’s double the regular price of any product in the range ($1), which I find more than a little astonishing, because I don’t really see the point in a 100% price difference.

• Pigmentation can be built upon.
• Glitter particles are not all that much.
• When swatches wet or over a primer, it’s pigmentation improves drastically.
• Longevity.
• Not tested on animals.

Cons of ELF Glitter Eyeshadow in Cowgirl:

• The packaging looks a tad too flimsy.
• For a glitter eyeshadow, there isn’t as much one would expect.
• Glitter is gritty in texture.
• Not the widest choice of colours.
• No applicator is provided.
• Fallout is an issue.
• Powdery.
• Presence of parabens.

Would I Repurchase ELF Glitter Eyeshadow in Cowgirl?

Nope, I would like to try something else.

Do I Recommend ELF Glitter Eyeshadow in Cowgirl?

At the price point? Hell to the yes!
