Eyeshadow Primer and Body Glow with Glitter: Do It Yourself

Eyeshadow Primer and Body Glow with Glitter: Do It Yourself

Hello ladies,

Today, I am going to share with you 2 simple DIY ideas. Let’s see what they are:

1. DIY – Eyeshadow Primer.

2. DIY – Body Glow with Glitter.

Let’s start with the eyeshadow primer first. There are tons of eyeshadow primers available in the market, some expensive, some not so expensive. But ladies do you know that you can make eyeshadow primer yourself, with ingredients which are readily available? And guess, what it hardly costs anything.

Let’s look at what you need to make your own Eyeshadow Primer:

Eyeshadow+Primer+and+Body+Glow+with+Glitter+Do+It+Yourself

  • Lacto calamine Lotion (It is best to use the Oil Control one, unless you have extremely dry eyelids).
  • Foundation.
  • Clean empty jar.

Procedure:

1. Pour some foundation in an empty jar.

2. Next put some Lacto Calamine Lotion.

3. Now, mix it well.

Note: Foundation to Lacto Calamine Lotion ratio should be 2:1 approximately depending on the consistency of your foundation.

And that’s it, you are done 😀 😀

Now, look at the eyeshadow swatches below:

Did you see how well it works to bring out the colour of the eyeshadow.

Now, let’s see how to make your own body glow with glitter.

I had body glitter at home but I have used it just once as the glitter particles transfer all over my clothes. Recently, my friend purchased Oriflame Body Glow and she wasn’t too happy with that as it didn’t add any glow as such nor did the glitter particles show up in natural or tube light. The glitter particles were visible only under dim yellow light. So, I thought why not try making one and when I made it, I was happy with the way it turned out.

So, let’s see what you need to make your own body glow with glitter:

  • Body Glitter.
  • Body Lotion or cream (I have used Ulta body butter which is more like a cream than body butter).
  • Olive oil or almond oil.
  • Clean empty jar

Note: If you want to skip oil, use a heavy body lotion that leaves shine/glow on your skin.  Use fine multicolour glitter for better results

Procedure:

1. Pour some body lotion/cream in an empty jar.

2. Now, add some glitter (Be careful and do not add too much glitter at once).

3. Now, add oil to this mixture.

Note: The quantity of oil required depends on which oil you are using and the quantity and texture of body lotion/cream you are using. With this body butter, I have used about 2-3 drops for 10ml of body butter.

4. Now, mix it well.

And voila, you are done.

In the swatches below, I have taken more product as the glitter is fine and if I spread it all over the camera does not capture the glitter well.

So, if you have foundations which you don’t like or which don’t match your skin tone, do not toss them away, instead put it to use.

    1. Thanks Saloni… *puchhi* *puchhi*

Yea this works really well sometimes it works far better than some of the primers available in the market.

  2. Wooow Nice DIY… *pompom* especially the primer one… i have a bottle of lactocalamine which I randomly purchased but never used (have normal to dry skin so didnt found it so effective)….now i know how to finish the bottle. *happydance*

  3. thankies for the primer tip..is it important to use only lacto calamine? can we use some other moisutriser like cetaphil?

    1. Rinni I haven’t used Cetaphil moisturiser so I am not sure if it will work..perhaps you can give it a try… Lacto Calamine works well cuz it has Kaolin which helps the pigment to adhere firmly. I feel most of the moisturisers get absorbed in the skin whereas Lactocalamine absorbs in the skin and also forms a layer on the skin. Perhaps you could also try using a solid foundation like Kryolan TV Painstick or a solid concealer should work too.
