Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Sun Defense for Face SPF 50

elizabeth arden eight hour cream
The legendary Eight Hour Cream Sun Defense for Face SPF 50 was created by Elizabeth Arden in 1930 and it’s been a success ever since. I bought this product to protect my skin from burning Indian sun, but as I was going through some reviews I learnt that it can have many versatile and unexpected uses, such as effective lip treatment, moisturizing brittle nails and soothing mosquito bites.

So is Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream a true miracle?

My thoughts on Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream

Even though Elizabeth Arden cream is claimed to be oily-free, my first impression was rather disappointing, because I thought it was way too greasy. Luckily for me first impressions are often misleading – just after a short while my skin absorbed the balm and it didn’t feel oily or heavy at all. It doesn’t leave any color on my face nor does it shine; it goes nicely with my morning make up routine and works well under my powder. Moreover, this product allows my skin to breathe and what’s important it never broke me out. I don’t have to worry about burns or dry patches, because it shields my sensitive skin effectively.

What about those surprising uses for the cream? From my experience:
• It moisturizes both dry nails and knees; the funny thing is that Miss Arden actually used to sooth her thoroughbred horses’ legs with it
• It’s a great relief for chapped lips
• Soothes mosquito bites
• Tames the eyebrows

(I also read that it can used to highlight cheekbones in a way that they catch natural light, but quite frankly I didn’t notice anything.)
To sum up, this product is not only a great sunscreen – it has many other advantages as well.

Conclusion – pros and cons of Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream

+ Versatile; works for a variety of skin problems
+ Provides long-lasting moisturization
+ Can be used alone or under make-up
+ Contains active ingredients, such as vitamin E and salicylic acid
+ Effectively shields skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays that can cause sunburn, surface skin cell damage and premature signs of ageing
– Initial feeling of oiliness
– The container is hardly appealing

My rating:
4.75 out of 5 – I agree that this is a classic in skincare.

      1. I understand your problem. me right here with you. everytime someone says something has worked for them, I want to try it out too EVEN if I have something good already working for me 🙁 I am telling you the only time I dont get tempted is when the Chanels and the really expensive blushes get reviewed. I just go hmm..nice, pretty..and leave it at that BUT the moment someone has reviewed a skincare product for normal/oily skin, I start adding it to my wishlist.
