ELLE 18 recently launched the ‘Color Pops Matte Lipsticks’ range in India with 20 beautiful shades. I bought a few shades for myself and, on that same day, my mom picked this shade for herself; I didn’t even know about it. As it is a very deep shade, pulling it off is quite a challenge for me. But I am enjoying this shade too. Read on for more details.

My Experience with Elle 18 Color Pops Matte Lipstick Cherry Wine:
Elle 18 matte lipstick comes in a cute black packaging with a lovely girl’s face printed over the cap. But the packaging is common to all lipsticks by Elle 18, so it is quite difficult to identify and pick one range or shade. The cute tube is easy to carry around, though. It is such a fun and girly packaging. But, the packaging twist mechanism isn’t very sturdy. Other than that, I really like this super affordable lipstick.
Shade & pigmentation:
‘Cherry Wine’ is a deep wine color with cherry undertones. It is more of a berry wine shade than cherry. It is so bold and vampy hence looks absolutely stunning if you can carry it properly. It doesn’t contain any shimmer in it. This is actually not my cup of tea but so many Indian women will love this shade, especially aged and mature women as this one will complement their skin well. Also, the shade is super pigmented and maximum two swipes are required for the true color pay off. It can hide pigmented lips well.
Texture & quality:
They call it a “matte lipstick” but I prefer to call it a creamy-matte lipstick. Its smooth and soft texture glides so evenly on the lips. This shade has a nice soft creamy matte texture. It has a non-drying finish which keeps the lips soft and moisturized for long. But, after a few hours, it settles down to a nice velvety matte stain.
It never makes my lips dry or patchy. It is a really a hydrating lipstick which doesn’t highlight dry patches. It might be a matte lipstick still it does transfer a lot. But it doesn’t mess around the lip area and it never creases. Also, it doesn’t settle into the fine lines either.
As this one is a dark shade, it stays nicely for around 5 hours which is quite impressive as this is just a normal lipstick. After 4 hours, it starts to fade but still the color looks nice. It can survive a lunch but not amazingly. It can be removed easily with a remover wipe.
According to its price it does its job beautifully and stays nicely on the lips. But it can’t provide a super matte texture. Actually, in this range, few shades have a nice matte texture and few shades are creamy matte. But, I am happy with both. Also this shade is not for everyone. It is too dark for teenagers, I feel. Currently, I am in a mood to try different look so I liked it.
