Summers are back with a bang and how! The heat here in Mumbai is unbearable. If this is the condition in March, I wonder what it might be like in May? *shudders* Anyway today’s review will be on the beloved brand “Essence.” I like this brand for the cute packaging and value for money products. I have been to the Essence counter so many times that the SA has become my friend. She told me about this liner the last time I went to get my sunscreen. I purchased it because I always borrow one from my mom. Let’s see whether this one is as good as all other Essence products or not.
My Experience with Essence Liquid Ink Eyeliner:
Packaging: This liquid ink liner comes in a very sleek cylindrical tube which is black in colour. The product name is displayed in silver. It doesn’t have anything other than the product name, no details are given. The tip is silver in colour and the applicator is just the right size. It works very well. I find it easy to line my eyes with the applicator. It has a screw cap mechanism which works well ensuring that no product comes out. I love how sleek this is. You can easily throw it in your purse. Full marks for the simple yet attractive packaging.
Color/Pigmentation: The colour of this liquid ink liner is jet black. One swipe is all you need, but for extra dramatic eyes, you could do with two swipes. I like how pigmented this is. It settles to a matte finish, a plus for most of us. This is the kind of liner you could use over a gel liner on your eyes. It would look really very pretty that way. It also looks good as is.
Texture: The applicator is very easy to work with. I have never used pen liners, so I do not know, but with this one, I can easily line both my eyes without making any mistake. It glides on very easily on the eyes without tugging. It doesn’t smudge when rubbed. It just fades, which is okay with me because I can’t stand the panda eye look when your liner gets all smudged around your eyes. That is what I cannot tolerate! Again, this one isn’t water proof. It gets washed off very easily without making the eyes look black.
Staying Power: It stays around for 4-5 hours. It fades with smudging/rubbing your eyes. I think the staying power is decent.
Summing up the pros and cons:
Pros of Essence Liquid Ink Eyeliner:
- Sleek and attractive packaging.
- Settles to a matte finish.
- Easy to work with.
- Available at all Essence counters and online.
- Decent staying power.
- When smudged, doesn’t make your eyes look horrible.

Cons of Essence Liquid Ink Eyeliner:

- Staying power could have been better.
- No details provided.
3.9/5 (1 mark extra just for the pigmentation).
Yes, I recommend it to you all. I would not repurchase this one, but I’ll try other variants from Essence!
