I am so happy that I finally get to review some products here. Over the last couple of months, I have just been reading reviews and trying out stuff recommended by IMBBian’s. Today’s review is about a balm (Relaxing?) from Fabindia called – Lavender Relaxing Balm.
I actually went to Fabindia to pick up the Charcoal Face Pack (this was long back) but saw this one and thought I would give a try. To be honest, I wasn’t much bothered about the pain relief claims it made. It was pure curiousness that I picked this up because Lavender has always been relaxing and balm form only got me more curious. I have a habit of picking up stuff that mentions Lavender oil in the ingredients, be it candles, soap bars or perfumes. So I pick this up, come home and forget all about it. Duh, so much for my curiosity! 😛
So finally, I found this last month while I was searching for my body butter which I had misplaced in a hurry. So here’s the review for you
About Fabindia Lavender Relaxing Balm: Enriched with lavender oil, a natural anti rheumatic agent and fusion of coconut, sunflower, jojoba, rosemary, black pepper and juniper oils, this balm helps relieve muscular aches and stress.
Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Sunflower Oil, Beeswax, Jojoba Oil, Lavender Oil, Rosemary Oil, Black Pepper Oil, Camphor, Juniper Essential Oil.
Price: 175 INR for 50 ml
My Experience with Fabindia Lavender Relaxing Balm:
Packaging: Comes in a usual round plastic container with a screw lid.
Texture: The balm is cream in color and has a thick texture. Melts and becomes oily when comes in contact with skin. A Little goes a long
I don’t remember how, but the place near my index and thumb finger had really become sore for a few days. I guess it might be due to wrong sleeping posture. So, when my mom asked me to apply Volini gel, instead I tried to use this. It has that soft, smooth balmy texture which melts instantly when you scoop it out. It smells distinctly of camphor (No, It doesn’t smell of lavender at any point of time). Though it is not very strong or headache inducing, but people with sensitive nose might not be able to bear it. But I found it very soothing and
calming. It fades after a couple of minutes. The product becomes oily and melts when it comes in contact with your skin. Though it did
relieve me of the pain for a while, I still did not find it suitable for relieving any muscular aches.
So, I just carry this in my bag and rub it on to my wrist at times, when I have this bad headache and cannot do anything about it while I
am work. The instant aroma surely has some soothing effect, but it only lasts for a couple of minutes.
Pros of Fabindia Lavender Relaxing Balm:
• Initial aroma is really soothing.
• Relieves pain for a couple of minutes only. (After that even if you re-apply it, there wont be any effect)
• Available easily.
Cons of Fabindia Lavender Relaxing Balm:
• Tall claims! The aroma and the pain relief is only for a couple of minutes. It vanishes within no time.
• Unhygienic tub Packaging.
Would I recommend Fabindia Lavender Relaxing Balm?
In case you have muscular aches, pain in the joints, Please do not reach out to this. This is definitely no replacement for your Volini or
Iodex 😛 (those stuff actually relives you of some pain and is much cheaper)
If you feel aromatherapy enhances your mood then try plain lavender oil. Works better. And if you feel stressed, (it is still not worth
trying) better grab a Dark Chocolate. I don’t see myself repurchasing this though.
Rating: 2.5/5 (only for the initial aroma that is really soothing for a couple of minutes)
