Forest Essentials Starter Kit
Recently I accompanied a friend to Palladium at Phoenix Mills. And I had promised myself, I am merely going to accompany and not succumb to buying a single thing. I already am done with my Diwali shopping and already stretched my budget beyond its limits. I stayed true to my resolve all through the ground floor and the first floor, but on the second floor when she wanted to pick up some soaps from forest essentials as gifts is when I chanced upon this small four product starter kit for just Rs.475/- and finally succumbed.
There are three types of kits with them, for combination skin, oily skin and dry skin. Though I have combination skin, my skin does feel oilier these days and hence picked up the kit for the oily skin type.
There are 4 products included in this kit for oily skin are:
- Kashmiri Walnut Face Scrub
- Lavender Neroli Day Lotion with SPF
- Jasmine, Aloe vera Facial Mist
- Kokum and Honey Lip Balm
First and foremost the starter kit came in cute paper packaging with a slit through which a ribbon was threaded. Looks damn neat, and included a picture here with the packaging.. Also got a free bookmark with goddess Lakshmi on it.
Here is the cute packaging

The Kit

The Kashmiri Walnut Face scrub

The scrub has minute granules as you can see in the picture and smells faintly of walnuts. It looks like liquid chawanprash and doesn’t feel too harsh on the skin. It did leave my skin feeling soft, and the blackheads around my nose area got cleared to quite an extent. But it definitely is a once a week use, as my skin is sensitive and did redden a little after use. Here are the ingredients:

The Facial Mist

The facial tonic mist is supposed to be used like a toner before moisturising. I use it less as a toner and more as just a facial mist, and spray it on, when my skin feels dry and I feel like spritzing some to just feel a little awake. It does feel very refreshing and I love the cute pump it has. The only con is I don’t really like the fragrance of jasmine too much, so don’t use it as much as I would have liked to.

The Lavender Neroli Day Lotion

This day lotion has a nice subtle fragrance. I don’t really know how Neroli smells but I like the subtle lavender fragrance. This light day lotion however it is a little too creamy and takes a while to absorb into skin. But just a tiny amount suffices, which is the nice bit.
The Kokum Honey Lip Balm

The consistency of the balm is quite hard, so have to swipe like 3-4 times to get a decent amount on the fingers. Though it is supposed to be Kokum Honey, it smells very coconuty. It does a decent job of moisturising the lips. Forest essentials lip balms I’ve found generally do a pretty decent job.
And here is my free bookmark 🙂

Overall though I have succumbed to this purchase I know now that the scrub is quite good and if it keeps performing in the long run and doesn’t trouble my sensitive skin, will pick the bigger pack next time. Also their lip balms last real long, so this small balm is going to last me a good 3-4 months, considering I don’t really apply it every day.
Actually apart from the facial mist due to the strong jasmine smell, am quite happy with my purchase.
I’m soooo glad you succumbed !!! 😛 😛 😛 Loved all these products ! Esp the Kashmiri Scrub !! Nice and very apt free gift ! 😛

Hey Veena,
Hey the scrub is nice, but i have given it away to mom as my skin is super sensitive. And yes theyi dont like rose and jasmine fragrances myself.
They do have different fragrances basis your skin type – i am sure they had different fragrances for the dry and oily skin type kits – dont remember the fragrances though 🙁
