Gucci Satin Matte Liquid Foundation Review

Hi girls,

From my recent pampering session – the Gucci Haul, I have reviewed the Gucci Face Primer already. In this post, I would be reviewing the Satin Matte Liquid Foundation. They have two variants in this range – the Luminous Silk foundation and the Satin Matte, both of which come with or without SPF.

$65 for 30 ml.
Product Description:
A refined liquid foundation with a lightweight consistency, Gucci Satin Matte Foundation covers the skin with a seamless mid-coverage matte finish. Using micro pearls, the formula emphasizes the natural contours of the face. The three-dimensional pearls deliver the finishing look by scattering light reflection and creating a multiple shaded effect when skin is viewed from different angles. Medium 090. Flawless look, satin feel. Matte finish. SPF 20 UV protection. Apply with Foundation Brush 12. Use after Silk Priming Serum.

My Experience with Gucci Satin Matte Liquid Foundation:

It’s so difficult to find the perfect foundation which would cater to all of our needs – the perfect shade, undertone (warm, cool or neutral toned), coverage (sheer, medium or full), skin type (combination, dry or oily), day/ night time and so on! A good foundation will take your makeup game to the next level.

Gucci Satin Matte Liquid Foundation outer packaging

I was so excited to try this foundation! We all seek the perfect flawless base and I was keen to see if this one suited me perfectly. I picked up the Satin Matte foundation since I felt that comparatively it gave better coverage than the Luminous Silk. I picked up the shade “090” to suit to medium to fair skin shade.

The packaging is regular except for the Gucci cap which makes it luxury. It comes in a matte glass bottle with a black textured plastic cap. The printing on it is in gold and the signature Gucci Logo on the top of the bottle. The bottle is sturdy but since it feels a bit heavy, hence not ideal for travel. It comes with a pump which makes the usage very hygienic. It has a shelf life of 12 months after opening.

When you pump out the foundation from the bottle, the texture seems a bit thick and not runny. Once you apply it to the skin, it spreads out very well onto the skin. After a few minutes, you will see that the foundation has set in to the skin giving it a very natural and matte finish. I would suggest using this foundation with a foundation brush for the best application.

Gucci Satin Matte Liquid Foundation swatch on hand

It dries fairly quickly and blends well into the skin while creating an even tone. The coverage is sheer to medium, but definitely buildable. Though it is not a very heavy coverage foundation, it surely did cover blemishes and pigmentation marks. See the swatch below when I have pumped out the foundation and then blended on the right side of my hand. Notice how the skin looks even and natural.

I have combination skin with dray patches and the Gucci Satin Matte suited my skin type well while it did not make the dry patches stand out which is the case with some of the foundations that I have tried. I would say it would suit normal and combination to dry as well as combination to oily skin types.

This foundation applied smooth over a primer and my makeup stayed put for more than 8 to 10 hours. If you are looking for a foundation to give you a very dewy finish, then this is not your pick cause this one didn’t really give a glow to the face rather a very matte though natural finish.

Overall, I think this is a very good foundation.

Pros of Gucci Satin Matte Liquid Foundation:

  • Blends well.
  • Absorbed quickly.
  • Matte finish.
  • Does not dry the skin.
  • Sheer to medium coverage.
  • Buildable coverage.
  • Natural finish.

Cons of Gucci Satin Matte Liquid Foundation:

  • Not for those who need full coverage.
  • Does not impart glow-y/dewy look.
  • Expensive.
