I hope all of you are enjoying the last month of 2016! Time flies so fast. I still remember how I started my journey in this new country in 2011 and now, we are all set to welcome 2017. Before 2016 comes to an end, I should take this opportunity to express my gratitude towards each and every person who stood beside me through my ups and downs. So starting with my family, I feel fortunate to cherish my relationships with friends, next door neighbours and even my mentors. And whenever I count my blessings, I can’t forget “IMBB and Rati-Sanjeev” as they are very special to me. I stepped into IMBB when my little munchkin was almost 9 months old and it almost feels like yesterday. Now, my little one is turning 5. Wow! I hope this blissful journey continues and wishing each one of you the best in everything you do! Today, I am reviewing one of the best products from a leading brand called, “Guerlain”. Guerlain launched their lip Gloss D’Enfer Maxi Shine range in 2013. Let’s read more about Guerlain Gloss D’enfer Intense Colour and Shine Bare Lip Sensation 471 Prune Zip!
Price: $30 for 0.25 Oz
Gloss d’Enfer colours and shapes the smile for deceptively innocent, daringly glossy and deliciously provocative lips.
It’s fine, non-sticky texture glides over the lips like a veil. Composed of mineral and botanical oils, it maintains hydration and keeps the lips soft. Intensely luminous, it guarantees a shimmering, shaping and plumping finish on the lips.
The design of the applicator allows you to instinctively outline and define the shape of the lips. It features a mini-reservoir to deliver just the right amount of gloss from the very first application.
Offering varying degrees of coverage and pigment intensity, sparkling or shimmer-free, 20 ultra-glossy shades colour and shape the smile.
My Experience with Guerlain Gloss D’enfer Intense Colour and Shine Bare Lip Sensation 471 Prune Zip:
The lip gloss comes in a normal and sturdy plastic see through tube packaging with a twist, over a black cap. It is so simple yet holds class in its details such as the flexible doe foot applicator, the cursive “Guerlain” printed on its cap and its luxurious mild fragrance pamper your lips really well. I like the simple and travel-friendly packaging.
My shade “Prune Zip 471” is a sheer raspberry shade which is true to its description. It is an intensely pigmented plum raspberry shade in the packaging but it looks a bit sheer on the lips. Apart from this concern, I totally enjoy the lightweight, soft gel formula of this sheer gloss. It adheres nicely on my dry-normal lips without sitting in between the fine lines and it doesn’t emphasise my dry lips. I am glad they have launched these treats for 30 bucks so that we can enjoy the luxury and pampering at an affordable price.
In fact, I find it a bit similar to my previous “Burberry kisses Plum Pink Gloss” with a slight difference in their colour pay off as the former imparts intense pigmentation on my lips while Guerlain Prune appears to be a lighter version of the same shade. However, I love the formula and texture of Guerlain better, as it is way cushiony and non-sticky on lips. I mean I just finished off my former gloss and while I loved every bit of pampering it delivered, I did wanted a change from its tacky finish and formula. Hence, Prune zip came as a replacement lip gloss for me.
It is not intensely pigmented, but with few swipes, we can achieve a buildable and medium coverage without any cakey or sloppy finish. However, it is definitely tricky for beauties with pigmented lips due to its sheer coverage and the fact that, it fairly conceals minor pigmentations. Moreover, it merely stays for 3-4 hours regardless of a snack or a meal, which might be a disappointment for few. Personally, I am pretty okay with 3-4 hours of wear time as I feel my lips are soft and moisturised, even after it fades away completely. It stays longer when topped over a lip liner or lip colour.
Overall, leaving aside the slight disappointment of sheer colour payoff and wear time (optional), I would love to buy it again for a fresh and charming makeup look. If you are seeking for a long lasting and intense coverage lip gloss, then this might not be an ideal purchase for you, while some would love to use this luxury lip treat with touch ups.
