Continuing with my reviews of the newly-launched Hard Candy Velvet Mousse Matte lip colors, today I am reviewing the shade “Hibiscus” for you. I have already reviewed the shades “Cherry Blossom,” “Sweet Pea”, “Daffodil” and “Dahlia” from this range. So, read on to find out more about this shade.

Product Description:

My Experience with Hard Candy Velvet Mousse Hibiscus Matte Lip Color:
Packaging: This lip color comes in an adorable colorful tin packaging which also has a full-sized mirror inside it. The lipstick itself is placed on a little velvet bed inside the tin. The actual lipstick comes in a flat oval-shaped tube with a silver cap. The applicator is a standard doe-shaped sponge. It picks up a good amount of the product and applies the gloss easily and precisely.
Overall, I am pretty impressed with the packaging; especially since the product only costs 6 dollars.
Shade/Pigmentation: “Hibiscus” is a light pink shade. These kind of milky pink shades do not suit me at all. This is a shade which will suit lighter skin tones, if at all.
I have been impressed by the quality of the other shades from this range, but “Hibiscus” is a major disappointment. It is poorly pigmented and applies very patchily. Even layering did not help me and the lipstick never goes completely opaque.
Texture/Finish/Lasting Power: This is a liquid lipstick and has a texture which is typical of any other liquid lipstick. It is not too runny and is sufficiently creamy to apply without any tug. No lip balm is needed underneath.
This particular lipstick does not dry down to a matte finish like other shades from this range and remains slightly wet. The lipstick transfers easily. It does not last through meals and drinks and fades away quite unevenly.
The lipstick has a nice vanilla scent which I personally like. Sensitive noses might not like it, but it does not stay on for too long.
Overall, this particular shade is a disaster as its quality is pretty poor.
Pros of Hard Candy Velvet Mousse Hibiscus Matte Lip Color:
- Creamy, velvety texture.
- Does not feel drying on the lips.
- Pretty affordable.
- Adorable packaging.
Cons of Hard Candy Velvet Mousse Hibiscus Matte Lip Color:
- This shade will wash out most skin tones.
- The lipstick applies patchily.
- Pigmentation is quite poor.
- Lipstick does not dry down to a matte finish.
- Transfers easily.

I would neither recommend nor repurchase this particular shade as it is of poor quality.
