My Take on Hard Candy World Balmination Good Girl Tinted Lip Balm:
I love tinted lip balms! I mean…who doesn’t?? Two of my favourite tinted lip balms are Maybelline Baby Lips in Pink Punch and Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Rose. I prefer tinted lip balms that give a healthy flush of color than totally non-tinted ones. I chose this because I have many lip balms in shades of pink and I wanted something in a peachy coral shade. This shade seemed perfect!
Packaging: The packaging looks pretty cute. It is a transparent plastic twist-up tube with a purplish floral design on the cap. The inner tube has a black sticker kind of thing on it with silver design. Since it is a twist-up packaging, it is pretty hygienic. The shade name and number have been mentioned at the bottom of the tube. Okay, here comes the annoying part! The color stick is already twisted up so high! It is 1/3rd out already and there is no space to swivel it further down. I really have to be careful while putting the cap on because I always feel I might end up breaking/damaging the crayon and create a mess near the cap. Also, the tube is made of cheap kind of plastic. It might break easily if not handled with care. The cap of my lip balm has already cracked a bit.
Fragrance: I really like how this one smells. I prefer unscented lip balms and lip colors. But among the scented ones, I like something mild and fruity. This lip balm has a fruity vanilla fragrance and is really mild. I find this fragrance quite pleasant. It lingers on for about 30 minutes or so. I don’t think even people with sensitive noses should have a problem with this.
Color: Another annoying part!! I can understand lip balms being sheer, but this is really bad when it comes to pigmentation! Be it the lip swatch, or the hand swatch, there is absolutely no hint of color! Even on non-pigmented lips, this won’t show up. If it is being advertised as a tinted lip balm, give me some hint of color at least!!! Even Maybelline Baby Lips lip balms are pretty sheer (most of them). In fact, Maybelline Baby Lips in Peach Kiss is similar to this particular shade and is pretty sheer too, but I can see at least some small amount of color being deposited on the lips. With Hard Candy, none at all! I don’t know about the rest of the shades from this range; some shades might be better pigmented than this.
Texture and Finish: The texture is creamy smooth. It glides on very easily, but it doesn’t make lips soft in one stroke. Two to three swipes are necessary for proper moisturization. It is non-greasy, non-waxy and feels pretty light on application. It has a pretty decent glossy finish. I won’t say it has the finish of an out-and-out gloss. The sheen is pretty and subtle.
Performance and Staying Power: As a lip balm, it is quite decent; not great in any way. It isn’t a healing lip balm. It makes lips really soft, smooth and healthy looking. It does not survive a meal and reapplication becomes a must. Staying power is a bit poor. Without meals, it lasts on me for about 2 hours or so. Also, the softness and smoothness of the lips exists only till the lip balm is present on the lips. Once it wears off, the smoothness reduces drastically.
Pros of Hard Candy World Balmination Good Girl Tinted Lip Balm:
- Packaging looks cute.
- Smells nice.
- Smooth texture – non-greasy, non-waxy.
- Pretty subtle glossiness.
- Makes lips soft and smooth.
Cons of Hard Candy World Balmination Good Girl Tinted Lip Balm:
- Won’t even call it sheer; it delivers absolutely no color.
- Cheap plastic packaging; might break easily if not handled with care.
- The color stick is rolled up high already making it prone to damage.
- Contrary to the product claims, it is not a healing or repairing lip balm.
- Poor staying power.
I am definitely staying away from this. I would prefer the Maybelline Baby Lips range over this any day. I am sure there are better tinted lip balms in the market that deliver what they promise.
