My Experience with Himalaya Herbals Repair and Regeneration Protein Shampoo:

I do not regularly change my shampoos. When I feel a certain shampoo is good with my scalp and hair, I make it a point to stick to it. I used Bedhead for coloured hair continuously for three years and then suddenly decided to change and started using L’oreal Enliven Protein Shampoo. I was trying these shampoos to find a good shampoo for my dry, damaged hair. My hair tends to dry and get damaged due to salty water, weather changes, colouring and continuous exposure to air conditioners.

I have very fine textured hair, which tends to fall a lot after colouring and sometimes have dry, itchy scalp too. I only use hot water showers for my head bath, which worsens my condition of dry hair and itchy scalp. A friend strongly recommended me to try this shampoo. I was hesitant since I have never used Himalaya products. She insisted and I said no harm in trying one more shampoo. I have used herbal shampoos and some have given me good results.

packaging

Himalaya protein repair & regeneration shampoo is pearl white coloured and has semi fluid consistency. It is soft textured and feels smooth to apply. Does not lather much, but that is with most of the herbal shampoos I have used, so I would not state this as a negative point. In fact in my opinion, it is a plus point. Since it is semi liquid, not much water is required to mix, apply, lather and to rinse. I apply this protein shampoo on my scalp and massage mildly with my fingertips on my wet hair and scalp, and then rinse my hair thoroughly.

If my hair is not oiled, one wash suffices since my hair length is short and I have fine and thin hair. If hair is oiled, it is necessary to repeat, to wash the oil thoroughly from the scalp. There is some hair fall when washing with this protein shampoo. Sometimes the scalp feels dry and itchy on the following day, if I skip hair oiling or conditioning. Also this shampoo is mild and needs to be used at least thrice a week, to keep the scalp clean. It has a nice mild fragrance, but cannot correlate, could be some herbal ingredient flavour. After wash, my hair does not feel rough; it feels smooth and looks better.

It is not necessary to pre-oil or use a conditioner after using this protein shampoo. In my opinion, it’s a mild, mediocre shampoo good for regular hair wash, rather than once a week hair wash. However, in my opinion, there is no hair product which can fulfil all our needs. We need to use oil, conditioner or protein mask, anti-dandruff treatment and so on. Also this shampoo is decently priced and is very affordable. I bought a 200ml bottle for my trial phase and only on finishing will decide if this is going to my permanent shampoo.

Pros of Himalaya Herbals Repair and Regeneration Protein Shampoo:

• Good quality and sturdy packaging.
• Semi fluid shampoo, which cleanses the scalp thoroughly.
• Herbal ingredients nourish and protect the scalp.
• Makes hair stronger, helps repair, regenerate and promote hair growth.
• Free from paraben and synthetic colours.
• Affordable price.

Cons of Himalaya Herbals Repair and Regeneration Protein Shampoo:

• There is hair fall during hair wash, but not after.
• Sometimes the scalp feels itchy and dry on the following day.

Would I Recommend Himalaya Herbals Repair and Regeneration Protein Shampoo?
To be honest, I am on the experimenting stage. However, I feel there is no harm in giving this shampoo a try by using sample sachets or the smallest size available.

  1. Yes, Lisha. If you have thick, long and wavy hair, this shampoo may not help much, it is a mild shampoo for regular wash, at least thrice a week and suitable for thin and short hair in my opinion.
