Have you ever felt the need to empty the whole bottle of conditioner in one go? So that you might get that sleek and silky finish, which your otherwise frizzy hair do not have. Hair Serum, Hair Conditioner and Hair Spray, you have tones of these products on your vanity shelf, to tame the dry frizz that threatens to spoil your perfect look. The dryness of your hair has even led to split ends and other signs of damage. At the end you feel that the task of managing your tresses is nearly impossible. Every time you try to tame one part, the other goes haywire. You ultimately give up and just pray every day for some miracle products that might relieve your hair of some dryness, and give you a day of perfectly styled mane.
So for you my dearies, I today compile and present a list of top 10 shampoos that can curb the dryness of your hair and give you the perfect look that you desire. Though of course, diet, exercise and nutrition play an active part too, apart from these external products. Also, regular massages with hair oil, and frequent application of nourishing hair masks also smoothes your hair. Anyway, since today we are talking about shampoos, so sit back, and take notes. Here we go. 😀
1. Dove Intense Repair Therapy Shampoo
This shampoo from Dove is a treat for dry and damaged hair. It claims to tackle all the problems that come with dryness, and as per the reviews, fulfills most of the claims as well. It contains borago officinalis seed oil, and provides nourishment and moisturization, tackles split-ends and repairs the damage. To top it all, it has a formula that doesn’t weigh down your hair, and all that at a price that fits your budget. This one is a must pick to tackle the dryness scare.
2. Matrix Opticare Smoothening Shampoo
This wonder from Matrix manages frizz expertly. It not only tames the dryness and flyaways, but also adds nourishment and shine to your mane. It also softens the texture of your hair, relieving it of the excess dryness, and the problems that come along with it. This is also one great budget buy to tackle the dryness scare.
3. Tresemme Hair Spa Rejuvenation Shampoo
This one is a current favorite, be it for lifeless or limp hair, or even dry hair. There are very few products that can be a favorite for both oily and dry hair, and this is one of those. It adds just the right amount of nourishment and the result is beautiful, smooth and shiny hair. It contains marine minerals, and nourishes the scalp and hair beautifully. If you want daily care for your dry hair, give this shampoo-conditioner combo a chance.
4. VLCC Protein Conditioning Shampoo
VLCC is one brand that manages either surprise, or shock us, no in-between reactions. Thankfully, this is one product that surprises us, and in a pleasant way. This shampoo contains the nourishment of proteins and vitamins. Being herbal, it contains soya protein, guar, almond oil and vitamin e, and is free from most of the scary chemical ingredients that might adversely affect our tresses. It leaves hair stronger and healthier with continued usage, and less prone to breakage, all within your budget.
5. Dove Dryness Care Shampoo
Another one from Dove, this shampoo claims to restore the lost sheen and softness of dry hair, and fulfills it to a respectable extent, if not all. It softens the rough edges, and it’s micro moisture serum locks in the smoothness to give you radiant hair all day long.
6. L’oreal Paris Smooth Intense Shampoo
This smooth intense variant of L’oreal claims to give you a spa like treatment at home, which moisturizes your hair from root to tip. It renews the shine and texture of your hair and claims to protect your hair from outside damage, for 48 hours. Though this is a bit far-fetched, this shampoo manages to tackle frizz and make your hair soft, shiny and manageable. It has the goodness of Argan Oil and Silk Protein, which are dream serums for the thirst of dry hair.
7. Granier Fructis Fortifying Shampoo + Oil 2 in 1
This is another one of those shampoos which do not weigh down hair, or cause any build up. That’s why these are amazing for either dry, normal or oily hair because after a wash, all they leave behind is soft hair. Enriched with oils like avocado, shea, fruits and olive, this shampoo doesn’t leave your hair craving for a conditioner or serum. It nourishes your hair from scalp to the last tip, leaving soft, shiny and manageable hair.
8. Lotus Herbals Kera Veda Soyashine Shampoo
Lotus Herbals is a trustworthy brand and has added many products to our hit-list. This shampoo has a unique combination of brahmi and soya protein that adds life to dull and dry hair, making them shiny and bouncy. It adds a beautiful luster to your frizzy mane, and tames it. It also promotes hair growth. While soya protein protects the hair against external damage, brahmi darkens the hair color and accelerates hair growth. A herbal shampoo with all these benefits, what more can one want?
9. L’oreal Paris Total Repair 5 Shampoo
This shampoo from the house of L’oreal claims to fight all 5 signs of dryness and damage – hair fall, dryness, roughness, dullness and split ends. It claims to solve all the aforesaid problems, and give you shiny, gorgeous and damage free hair in return. It’s pro-keratine and ceramide enriched formula claims to strengthen your hair from inside, thereby providing intense nourishment and care.
10. Himalaya Protein Extra Moisturizing Shampoo
Another one of the trusted herbal brands, this budget buy from Himalaya is a daily solution to your dry hair, without any side effects or chemicals. Himalaya Protein Extra Moisturizing Shampoo contains ingredients like fenugreek, sesame, netted melon, aloe vera, licorice, palandu, kharbuja, kumara, yashtimadhu, methi and tila. To top it all, this is a paraben-free shampoo. It promotes hair growth, makes them soft, smooth and shiny, and protects hair from daily damage. If these do not convince you to pamper your hair with this shampoo, nothing else will.
So fellas! Fight the daily damage and dryness with these products. However, as I said, external products can only work as long as you take care of yourself. So, have a healthy diet, drink plenty of water, and take precaution in extreme weather conditions. Your hair is your best accessory. Take good care of it and flaunt it the best way. 😀 😀

Does any of them really makes some difference to hairs??
I have used a few of these Sumi. Garnier, Lotus, VLCC and Tresemme were really good to my oily scalp-dry hair combo 🙂
I used to love Total Repair five. But, I have moved on to Tresemme Hair Spa Rejuvenation Shampoo. Great list Kadambari. 🙂
Thanks Shikha 🙂 Even I loved Tresemme Hair Spa. 🙂
i do not have dry hair yet i couldn’t escape using conditioners with dove shampoo. specially if you are living in cities with hard water (more salt and carbonate contents in water).
Himalaya shampoo is a total dud.i had to throw away an entire bottle of 400ml after just few hair washes, it totally made my hair rough and brittle.
I have used most of the above. Not the Himalaya one though. I felt that lack of harsh chemicals was a pro for it. And yes I do get your point. While I was in Delhi, I needed conditioner even with the gentlest of shampoos. 🙁
Dove shampoos cause extreme hair fall in the long run as they are loaded with silicons for the “smooth n silky hair”!
Lotus one makes my hair frizzy!
Loreal one is good but makes hair greasy if used along with conditioner.
Tresemme is current fave! Less chemicals and works good.
L’oreal shampoo is okay and I liked it with conditioner. Lotus Keraveda suited my hair and Tresemme too. 🙂 I always use a shampoo for, say 2 months, not more than that, mainly because somehow my hair are so sensitive they revolt if anything is used for a long time, so I did not know about the long term problem with Dove. Thanks for informing. 🙂
Tersemme is my current fav too! Nice post!
Thanks Vanya 🙂
matrix is not here sad and also I miss wella, schwarkopf I missed them in this list:( nice post:)
Thanks Iqra 🙂 Matrix is included, the second point. I included the budget brands here actually, those that are known by all and sundry, and are in budget. 🙂
moderation???? team pls rescue 🙁
Good picks Kadambari 🙂
Thanks Jasmine 🙂
Can any one suggest me a good shampoo with out any harsh chemicals for dry hair. Great post BTW
Thanks Kity 🙂 You can try organic brands like Forest essentials, Biobloom, Just Herbs. Those are expensive, but devoid of any chemicals. 🙂
moderation???? phir se???? teaaaam bachaooooo mere comments 🙁 🙁
some of the above didn’t work for me…will surely try the others…great list babes!
Obviously yaar!! All 10 cannot work equally on one person. 🙂 And thaaaanks. 🙂
Nice post…I wanna try tresemme now..tell me something which fights dandruff and manage smooth and silky hair
I am still trying to find that perfect product ayesha 🙁 for now, the best thing is applying a mix of hair oil and lemon juice half an hour before shampooing your hair with a herbal and organic brand. It helps.
I used to use Loreal Total repair, but it increased my hair fall. Plus it makes hair greasy by 2nd day. Now I use it for manicure only.
Really?? Total repair had worked wonderfully on my hair. Sadly, I have dandruff problems, so I had to change it. 🙁
Dove doesn’t work if you have rough damaged hair.. you will feel it soft but it makes hair fizzy and doesn’t work on dandruff at all.. it doesn’t clean scalp properly if you have applied oil.
Tresemme will tame your hair for initial washes then you’ll get that rough and frizzy hair again
Anything with alcohol will make your hair soft initially and then the situation will become worst.
For better hair quality after washing hair with shampoo use conditioner to give your hair protection there are herbal conditioners available it will provide a layer which will protect your hair from dirt, pollution
if you are using any kind of heat, do use good quality original heat protectant spray else it will result into damaged, rough hair.
Alcohol free serum is an awesome option for quick results
Egg, heena leaves, curd are natural conditioners which will make your hair soft healthy.
If you really want to tame your frizzy hair fast use milk as conditioner daily if you use or do not use shampoo and wash your hair with water
it will stink a bit but that will not matter once you’ll get healthy hair back
I vent read all these on net or so.. these are my personal expierence
stay happy stay positive
Try loreal mythic oil shampoo..its the best for dry and unmanageable hair!
I have used Garnier fructis shampoo+oil. It works. It was my favourite for quite a long time. Matrix opticare is also good. But i noticed that these shampoos did not work for my extremely dry, frizzy hair during summers. Presently i m using trsemme spa rejuvination and trust me it has not let me down yet. Tresemme products are really good and fit in the budget too.
my hair is thin and damaged by flat iron, plz suggest me which indian product shampoo will be the best for my damaged hair..
