10 Homemade Body Scrubs to Clear Cellulite

Cellulite is underlying lumpy fat (also called as cottage cheese fat) that pushes through the skin, usually on the thighs, tummy, upper arms and gluteus area. In medical terms, cellulite is called as “gynoid lipodystrophy.” Cellulite has an orange-peel appearance when extra fat deposits push through the collagen fiber, from beneath the skin. There are many creams and lotions that claim to reduce the appearance of cellulite and most of the times, such creams do not work efficiently. One should realize that cellulite is accumulation of excess fat and only regular exercise which tones the body can help you clear cellulite. 1. The Magical Anti-Cellulite Scrub:

Add a table spoonful of extra virgin olive oil to about 2 tablespoons of coffee bean residue or coffee powder. Mix both well and your magical coffee scrub is ready! 2. Coffee and Avocado Scrub:

A coffee body scrub stimulates circulation and reduces cellulite. Take 1 cup of ground coffee, 1 cup of coarse brown sugar, 1 mashed ripe avocado and 1 tsp olive oil. Put all the ingredients in a bowl into a scrub consistency. Using circular movements, rub the mixture into damp skin in areas where you have cellulite. Leave on for 15 minutes and then rinse off with cold water.

3. Coffee and Coconut Scrub:

Take 1/2 cup extra virgin coconut oil in a bowl and heat it in a double boiler, stirring slowly until it melts completely. Keep it aside to cool but do not allow to solidify. Once the coconut oil cools down, add 1 cup of coffee powder, one cup of sugar, and 1/2 tablespoon of cinnamon powder into it. Mix all ingredients together and store in an air-tight container. Use 1-2 times a week (or everyday if you like). The coffee and sugar will exfoliate your skin and the coconut oil will leave your skin soft and moisturized.

4. Oatmeal and Coffee Scrub:

Take 1/2 cup steamed oatmeal, 2 teaspoons salt, 2 teaspoons ground coffee, 5-6 drops of essential oil of orange, 3-4 drops of rosemary essential oil and 2-3 drops of cinnamon oil. Stir the mixture and apply on the trouble spots. Do the massage for 5-10 minutes. Then wash with warm water and then rinse with lukewarm. Do not forget to moisturize your skin after treatment with cleansing cream or milk.

5. Brown Sugar and Sea Salt Scrub:

Take 1 cup brown sugar (to gently exfoliate without drying), 1 cup sea salt, 2 tablespoons of olive oil or sesame oil (to moisturize your skin), 2 tablespoons of vanilla extract, 2 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon and 2 tablespoons of honey in a bowl and mix well. Store this scrub in an air-tight glass jar. Apply the scrub directly to your wet or damp skin and rub it in circular motion on cellulite with your fingers, or use a washcloth or loofah. Leave on your skin for about 5 minutes and then rinse off with cold water.

6. Corn Oil Treatment:

Mix a cup of corn oil with 1/2 cup of grapefruit juice and 2 teaspoons dried thyme herb. Massage into hip, thigh, and buttock areas. Cover with plastic wrap to lock in body heat. For extra results lay a heating pad over each area for five minutes.

7. Grapefruit and Aloe Vera Gel Massage Cream:

Take 100 gm of aloe vera gel and 15-20 drops of grapefruit essential oil. Mix well and place this mixture in a dark glass bottle. Massage it gently into affected areas until the mixture is absorbed. Put red lentils (masoor dal), Yellow Mustard, Oats and Almonds in a grinder and grind it for 25-30 seconds. Mix the powder with turmeric and curd thoroughly until it turns into a smooth paste. Apply this mixture on the hands, neck, and legs and leave it for 25-20 minutes and rinse off by scrubbing in an anti-clockwise direction with hands and take a shower.
