How To Fix Dried Lip Gloss and Mascara

Hi everyone,

In today’s post, I’m going to take you through some quick and easy ways in which you can revive your dried lip gloss and mascara. Lip gloss and mascara are two types of makeup items that have a relatively short shelf life, and they’re prone to drying out very fast. However, the good part is that there are many quick fixes to revive these products and make them as good as new again. Keep in mind that this only applies to products that have dried out prematurely and not to products that are past their expiry date. You must never try to rehydrate or make usable again any expired beauty products, as this can lead to multiple skin and health issues. Now, let’s take a look at these simple tricks you can try at home in order to restore your dried out lip gloss and mascara.

How To Fix Dried Lip Gloss and Mascara

1. Soak the tube in the hot water: A very quick and easy way to rehydrate and revive any tube of lip gloss or mascara is to immerse it in hot water. Fill a steel glass or a mug with hot water. Place your tube of mascara or lip gloss in this container and leave it there for 10-15 minutes. Once you pull it out, you will find that the dried out elements of the product have been rehydrated and you can go ahead and use it. Make sure not to put any hot water inside the tube of lip gloss or mascara.

2. Add a few drops of coconut oil: The all-time beauty essential—coconut oil has yet another wonderful use. By simply adding 3-5 drops of virgin cold pressed coconut oil, you can bring back to life any lip gloss or mascara that has become too dry for use. Use a dropper to add the required amount of coconut oil inside the product. Shake the tube well and let it sit for a few hours before you go ahead and apply it. You could also use olive oil instead of coconut oil.

3. Use a lash conditioner: A lash conditioner is a very handy product when it comes to rescuing and reviving a dried out tube of mascara. Take a few drops of a lash conditioner or an eyelash serum and add it to the tube of dried out mascara. Shake the tube well and allow the two formulas to mix well for about 30-40 minutes. You can now use your freshly rehydrated mascara.

4. Mix in some aloe vera gel: Another natural product that works well to rehydrate dried out makeup products is aloe vera gel. You can take some fresh and natural aloe vera gel and insert a pea-sized amount into the tube of dried mascara or lip gloss. Make sure that the gel has mixed well with the product. Once that is done, you can go ahead and use the lip gloss or mascara.

5. Infuse some eye drops: You can also use some soothing, clear eye drops to revive your dried out mascara. Simply add a few drops of the product into the tube of dried mascara and allow the products to mix well. The formula of the eye drops is always lightweight and thin, so it mixes into the mascara easily and rehydrates the product quickly.
