My Experience with Huda Beauty Complexion Perfection Pre-Makeup Base:
It comes in this gorgeous matte black tube and there’s a little pump on the outside, which I think is very amazing because it’s an amazing thing to do and the cap kind of closes perfectly. It’s a hydrating primer and I really, really like this primer. one of the most amazing things about this primer is that it is paraben free and sulphate free, and it also contains rosehip oil and shea butter, so it’s something that a person with dry skin or combination skin would appreciate more than somebody who has oily skin, but it can be used like a universal primer. It can be used by all skin tones. Those with oily skin can use it on the parts that are kind of drier on their face rather than using it all over. The texture is almost like a cream, you know, it’s a pale white cream, like a normal moisturizing cream, not very thick, but you know, semi-thick moisturizing cream and it’s pressed evenly.
It leaves that little tacky feeling on the skin, so the foundation really adheres to the skin very well and it also gives a very nice, flawless finish to the complexion. I think the pores, the fine lines, everything kind of looks very softened up with this primer. It is almost like a soft filter on your skin and it imparts a light, radiant finish to the skin. It is not matte or anything but it’s not shiny also.
It really makes your skin feel very hydrated and almost like your skin is ready for the foundation now. But you know, it is not a like pore-filling primer or anything, it softly blurs. If you have like big pores, I would recommend that you use something like a pore filler, something like Benefit Porefessional or you know Lakme Pore-Filling Primer, but this is like a good primer that you can use on an everyday basis and something you should know that it would make your foundation last very very long because it just holds the foundation in place for like really long.
I have seen the difference between when I have worn this primer as opposed to when I have not worn this primer. It has definitely helped with the long-lasting power of the foundation and it’s great for brides. My only and the biggest gripe with this primer is that it has the same exact smell as the foundation which is soooo annoying and I absolutely don’t like that smell. It is a very, very powerful smell, like a very strong fragrance, and if you are somebody who has sensitive skin and also sensitive to strong fragrances in skincare products, then it might break you out. It has not broken me out, but you should be aware of this.
The fragrance is not as strong as the foundation, but it still kind of you there! You can really smell it and if you have sensitive nose, it would bother you. The fragrance kind of fades away after a while, but it’s there! So, that’s the only drawback, but I think Huda Beauty has done a very good job with her foundation and primer both, but honestly, I would not repurchase them because the fragrance is too just too much for me.
Also, I apply this primer with my fingertips and just spread it across rather than using a brush or a Beauty Blender, and I think that’s the best way to go about it.
If I have a fragrance-free formula, I would definitely repurchase. I barely am able to use the foundation these days because the fragrance is so strong for me. So, like it is a good basic primer that you can have that would not break you out, that would give you hydration, and would last long, nothing too fancy. I think sometimes the basic products have to be really really good and this is one of those products, but the fragrance definitely needs to go and that is why my rating is 3.5/5 for this one.
