Inglot Nail Enamel Shade 389 Review, Swatches

INGLOT NAIL ENAMEL # 389

Hi Beauties,

In my previous nail enamel review, I had talked about the Color Play collection of Inglot nail enamels which were launched in Spring 2013. This is a beautiful collection of very elite, pastel shades, which would look good on everyone. Though the season is over, and the summer 2014 has some other trend in vogue, I feel these pastel shades will never go out of fashion. Today I am reviewing another shade from the collection…shade # 389 (Wish I had picked up a few more shades from this collection!!!!).

About the Product: This shade no 389 belongs to the Color Play Collection of Inglot Nail Enamels.
The perfect nail enamel provides durability, high gloss and a short to medium drying time. Does NOT contain toluene, formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) or camphor.

Price: I got it for Rs 600/- for 15 ml of product.

My experience with Inglot Nail Enamel Shade 389:

The nail enamel comes in a black color box with a hole, through which the color inside may be seen. The Bottle inside is square in shape, and holds 15 ml of product. The brush is a simple brush, without any fancies. I am glad they have kept the packaging simple and sturdy (since fancy packaging usually translates into fancy prices).

This is one of the most pretty blue nail enamels I have ever tried on. This is not exactly blue…Some may call it a SURF BLUE shade…..I myself feel it is a combination of TEAL and TURQUOISE shades. It looks quite light blue on the bottle, it translated in a bit more deeper color on my nails (not that I mind).

It is better to shake the bottle thoroughly before first use; since the pigment and solvent might have separated. The consistency is perfect, neither too thin nor too thick. However, unlike shade 388, I found that this one applies streaky during 1st coat. However, it can be easily remedied in one more coat. The nail enamel has a nice creamy finish, with a subtle shine to it…but no shimmers as such. Application is very easy, however it takes a bit more time to dry completely (around 10 minutes)…which is still less compared to many other brands.

Once set, it does not budge. It stays on for 7-8 days easily, with a bit of chipping after the 3rd day. You may observe from my swatches that there is some chipping on my middle finger….and I had photograph edit on the 4th day of application. The shine however remains intact.

This is a very beautiful pastel shade…and not one which will make your hands look darker. However, this is a very unconventional shade…and your mothers and aunts may frown upon such selection. However, if you are an adventurer in regards to cosmetics, you may easily try this one out…It is bound to look pretty on all nails. I personally have no qualms wearing unconventional shades, but my mum had her eyebrows raised when she saw me buying this. She is of the Old School type, where the best colors are only reds to maroons to light browns and pinks.

Pros of Inglot Nail Enamel Shade 389

• Inexpensive
• No shimmery
• Nice shine
• Consistency is perfect
• Does not discolor the nails (even without base coat)
• Lasts long, with only minor chipping after 3rd day
• Retains shine for long
• Does not contain toluene, formaldehyde, DBP or camphor

Cons of Inglot Nail Enamel Shade 389

• Limited availability
• No names to the shades
• Applies streaky in 1st coat, may need 2 or more coats for decent look.
• Drying time a bit more than shade # 388 (10-15 minutes; still very less than many other brands)
• Since it is a light color, may make some hands look darker (but very unlikely with this shade, I think)
• May need to shake before first use, as the pigment and solvent might have separated.

IMBB rating: For the color: 6/5; For the quality: 4.5/5

  1. Such a pretty pastel shade once again Arpita *woot* love it! *woot* and btw, my mum raises her eyebrows for every nail paint I wear *hihi* she likes only subtle colors and when ever I have loud colors on my hand, she has to comment about it *hihi* 😛 But I love experimenting and I am definitely going to check out the pastel collection in Inglot *drool*

    1. *thankyou* princy….. Hmmmmm… So its not just my mum……. *hifive* …. There are so many colors in the world…. Its so difficult to be always faithful to just a few…. Like rati wore a black and white dress with a shimmery nail polish in her previous post….. But topped it off with a hot pink lipstick…. The world would be so boring and grey with just a few colors

      1. So true Arpita *hifive* my mum likes only pearly colors on my hand *hihi* but I end up buying the most eye catchy colors like neon pink, neon yellow, green, bright blues like these and bright neon pinks *hihi* But this pastel range by Inglot has bowled me over *woot* and you make them so appealing with your beautiful nails *woot*

    1. *thankyou* Lisha… Actually these nail enamels are long lasting on the nails….. And do not dry easily in the bottle as well…. So if u consider all these… Its actually a bargain
