Kenra Thermal Styling Spray Review

Hi guys!

I think I may have found my Holy Grail hair straightening product. Is it really a miracle in a bottle? Let’s find out:

Kenra Thermal Styling Spray

Packaging:  The product comes in a weird-looking silver bottle with a black nozzle and black cap. There is a generous 300 mL in the bottle.

Price:
$16.

My Thoughts on Kenra Thermal Styling Spray:

This thing is a miracle in a bottle! It does have a slight scent to it, and has a slight tackiness when first applied to hair, but that goes away in seconds. It takes me a total of only 2 passes with my flat iron to get perfectly straight hair whereas, with my other sprays, I usually have to go over the section a minimum of 4 times to get straight-enough hair. This is witchcraft!!

The bottle I bought has 300 mL, but once it runs out, I am surely gonna place another order at Ulta and try out more from the brand. It claims to keep the hair straight for 60 hours – that is 2.5 days, which is not a lot, but it claims to keep it exactly the way it was when you first straightened it. I find this not to be true for me. It stays relatively straightened for just about 2 days and after that, it looks like I have a run a curling iron through my hair. It starts to curl up kind of all over the place.

Now, a few cons that I observed – you can’t use it on wet or damp hair. You have to dry your hair and then use it. Like it should be bone-dry otherwise the hair takes longer to straighten and goes back to curly in just an hour or two. I find it best not to use it the day I have washed my hair. Another con is that you have to carefully control the amount you spray per section. If you hold the bottle too close to the hair and spray too much, it can get very tacky and make the hair stiff. As for scent, it has an annoying scent when you first apply the product but that goes away after straightening.

How I use it:

First, I take a 1-inch section, brush it through to remove tangles.  Then, I spray this product from maybe 10 or 15 cm distance twice at the bottom and top of the hair section. Brush it through again to distribute the product. Then, while holding the hair in the brush, run a flat iron through it.

Pros of Kenra Thermal Styling Spray:

  • Straightens hair in 1, maximum 2 passes of the flat iron.
  • Keeps hair straight for 2-3 days, depending on hair type.
  • Generous amount of product for the price.
  • Protects against intense heat.
  • Very affordable.

Cons of Kenra Thermal Styling Spray:

  • Can make the hair stiff if too much product is applied.
  • Have to make sure the hair is bone dry, otherwise it does not straighten properly and the hair goes back to curly within an hour or two.

IMBB Rating:
4/5.
