My Experience with L.A. Girl Lipliner Pencil Currant:

Packaging: L.A. Girl Lipliner Pencil in the shade “Currant” comes in a sleek, sharpenable pencil type packaging. The pencil itself is black coloured with a matte finish and color-coded end; just keep them upside down and colour-coded ends make it easy to pick up the desired shade. The pencil bears only the shade name and no other detail. It comes sealed with cellophane that houses the other details regarding the product. Also, there is no sharpener provided with this lip liner pencil.

Shade: The shade “Currant” is a deep wine colored lip liner. The shade itself looks very pretty, but the formula isn’t impressive at all. From the time of application itself it settles into the fine lines.

Pigmentation: The lip liner provides a uniform and intense color pay off with just one swipe. There is no pigment skipping and in a couple of swipes, it shows full color. I have pigmented upper lip, but this lip liner is able to conceal it while showing its true color over the lips. I have to go for 2 to 3 swipes to get the lip pencil show its true color on my pigmented lips. It does not crumble or feel heavy on the lips in the process.

Texture: The texture of the lip liner is creamy and I still find it very difficult to glide over the lips. It does not glide on its own and there is too much of tugging and pulling in the process. When used as liner, the tugging and pulling is minimal, but when used on its own as a lip color, the tugging and pulling is more. I use the slant side of the tip to apply while filling in the lips. It makes the application easier as the pencil glides easily. There is no sheen to the shade and it settles into soft matte finish.

L.A. Girl Lipliner Pencil Currant Pencil Tip

Formula: The formula of this lip liner is very lightweight and does not feel heavy on the lips. But, the lip liner has extremely drying formula which starts to feel dry soon enough after the application. My lips are very much dry and chapping-prone; if I do not wear a lip balm for even half an hour, they become chapped. Hence, every time before wearing any other lip product, I always put lip balm underneath. But with this lip liner, no matter if I exfoliate my lip or put a lip balm underneath before using the lip liner, it anyways settles into fine lines and makes lips dry and then accentuate the patches. The actual product does not have any such fragrance, but the pencil itself smells weird.

Staying Power: This shade stays put for 3 to 4 hours without having any meal. After having a complete meal, it fades and leaves an uneven stain behind, which doesn’t look good at all. On top of that, I have a habit of licking the center of my lips. The stain can easily be removed with a wipe itself. It is not completely transfer proof. The shade also does not bleed or feather.

The shade is very easy to remove; I just swipe cotton over the lips once with Garnier Micellar Oil-Infused Cleansing Water or use Himalaya aloe vera moisturizing wipe. It gets removed completely and does not leave any stain behind.
